Hi there,
I just moved from Bento to Tap Forms and am still getting used to it. So far I like what I have learned but still haven’t gotten everything working like it used to in Bento. I have a small business that owns assets or property, mostly tools. I sell and upgrade but due to the nature of the tool I need to keep records for ownership, transfer etc. In Bento I could just switch I think they called them libraries but I haven’t an easy way to move entries from form to form.
So here is what I have set up and maybe there is an easier way that you guys could help me with. I have a category called “Tools” and then in that category I have two identical forms as far as fields go but one is called “Current Inventory” and the other is called “No Longer Own/Sold”.
I enter my data, brand, model, serial number etc along with a file link of invoice and photos which is all great. But then when I sell that item I want it to be moved to the “No Longer Own/Sold” form.
Any ideas???
I like having everything under the one category and being able to quickly have a list of what I currently have and what I no longer have. I have to access the no longer own items sometimes frequently if I have a colleague ask about something I previously had, values, configurations etc.
So how can I move an entry to a different “form” in the same category. I know I can make each tool its own form and then change the category but I’d rather not have a lot of forms when I like having one form with a lot of entries. I hope this makes sense.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing any ideas and help!!!
DaveTopic: Imported field types
So I imported my Bento data, which sort-of works. But then if I edit the form to change date fields to be date type, and number fields to be numbers, those fields vanish. The only way I can do it is to create a new field of type date, and then go through tediously record by record, field by field, and copy the data by hand to the new fields. Which is odd, because Tap Forms understands the original format, when I cut and paste it. But it seems to not understand to do it automatically. I don’t have to massage the date layout to get it to understand it when I do it by hand.
So isn’t this rather odd?
Topic: "Number"-type field empty?
New user, just migrated all my Bento data (plus photos!) to TapForms. For the most part, a good drop-in replacement. But I have one weird issue I'm not sure how to resolve.
One of the libraries I transferred over was a collection of recipes. I had 3 fields in Bento – Servings, Calories, and Ready In. Aside from “Ready In” they were all just simple text fields.
The library imported just fine into TapForms as Text Fields, but now I want to change the Servings/Calories into a Number field – however every time I do the field change, the field just goes completely blank. Fortunately the data is still there, so switching it back to Text gets the information back. Is there anyway to do the conversion cleanly? As far as I can tell, every single entry in my recipes for Servings/Calories are numeric, so I’m trying to figure out otherwise why the data disappears when it’s a “Number” field instead of a “Text” field.
I’m just starting out here with Tap Forms on Mac and iPad/iPhone. I got my Bento libraries into it with the images. I’m now trying to customize things.
Just now, on the iPad, I changed the category of some forms from “uncategorized” to a new category I created. I then added some icons. The app quit after just about every change I made. Not every single time, but often. I then reopened the app and the change was there. The sync to the Mac went well using iCloud.
Previously, saving some searches ended up with the iPad database completely empty. I reinstalled the app and then used iTunes to reinstall the sqlite file.
What bothers me is the app quitting so often after any change, and ending up empty for no reason I can see. I’m not used to such things. To me that’s what we used to call a “crash” and it doesn’t bode well for the stability of the app.
One form has 17 fields and 4327 records, more that 500 have images. Is this too much?
Hopefully it isn’t because it’s going to get bigger.

I’m not sure I understand how to get things into Tap Forms on iPad/iPhone.
I transferred my libraries from Bento to Tap Forms on Mac using Giacomo Vernoni’s very nice tutorial.
I then activated iCloud sync on the Mac, and after that on the iPad. Apparently, the iPad synced but my stuff didn’t appear.
So I made a backup of the database in Tap Forms Mac and put the TapForms_db.sqlite file into the File Sharing window on iTunes and synced with the iPad. This worked. I did this for the iPhone and it also worked and the forms sync on all devices.
My question: Is this the correct method?
I see no mention of this method anywhere… which may be unsurprising as I didn’t find much documentation. I watched the screencasts but I never remember much after watching such things. I need to read a user manual.

Hello,
I’m new here and new with TapForm ;) (i come from bento)
I have a question about using fields calculation. Is it possible to calculate values from linked fields? or put literal values from this linked fields?
For example:
I have a form called Projects. There i have fields like project name, Hours worked, Amount and a linked field called time billing.
Time billing is really an other form where i put hours when i begin a job, hours when i finish, a calculated field to know time worked, and a description.I Want to know how can i catch amount values of total hours worked and put this value in Hours worked field of ‘Projects’ form.
Is this possible?
Thanks
