Hi, I’m using the demo version of Tap Forms. I just imported a Bento database which is an image archive of an artists work. I need to be able to browse by thumbnails. The title of my image field is “media” but the images do not display in multi-column view, however the work “media” is listed for each record. In single-column view the thumbnails are too small to see although I have selected the largest thumbnail size in field properties.
I’ve read in other forums that a grid view like Bento’s is being considered. I would LOVE this, in the meantime I just need the thumbnails to display as they seem to in the Tap Forms video demonstrations that I’ve seen for movie databases.
Thanks so much!!
CindyAnother Bento user in trouble…
I need a scrolling display of three (short) text fields, so that 20 or so lines (of the three) are displayed on screen.
Bento seems to do this by default; my – old – Filemaker offered a simple display as an option… but I really can’t see how to get this simple layout on my shiny new TapForms.
Help!
(MacBook Air)
Greetings,
I’ve just recently stumbled across this program, and it looks very promising for my needs. I’ve been looking for a proper database application for a while, and I thought that Bento would be a good fit for me. However, it was not a relational database and then FileMaker discontinued it, and I didn’t want my data trapped in an orphaned format.I’m planning on using Tap Forms to catalog my currency collection. I’m also accustomed to relational databases (I’ve previously developed Microsoft Access databases as a part of my job as a software engineer). However, I’m a little baffled about how linking records (relational database) works in Tap Forms.
In currency collection, there are always particular attributes about a particular note that are shared across other notes of the same series (say a $1 Federal Reserve Note dated 2009) all have the signature of Treasurer Rios and Secretary of the Treasury Geithner. In addition, there is an range of dates where the print run was made.
In my database, I’d like to have a field called “Series” that could be (and likely should be) a pick list. Once I make a selection from the pick list, I’d like Tap Forms to automatically populate other fields in the record (such as the aforementioned Treasurer and Secretary of the Treasury). However, I have not been able to find a way to do this.
I presume that I would start by making a separate “form” (otherwise called a data table in database lingo) that contains all of the data about the series that would auto-populate. Beyond that, I don’t know where else to go.
I appreciate any help you can offer.
Regards,
GeoffreyI have just started using Tap Forms and have quite a strange issue. I can import templates complete with records from Bento, providing the original library was not in a folder or does not contain a collection. I have tried moving the libraries out of folders and restarting Bento, but that still does not help. Tap Forms does import the template, but not the records which is what I really need.
Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks.Hi there!
I’m trying to transfer all my work over from Bento, and so far I have been very happy with the program — thanks for putting in all the work!
One thing is giving me trouble, however.
I keep a form that I call “work record” where I put all the details of the jobs I do for clients (date, task, duration, rate, etc.). I’ve created a new form to create an invoice. I made a “link to form” field, selected “many to many” and linked it to the “work record” form.
Then I created a new layout so that I could email clients nice looking invoices where I just select all the work I’ve done for them each month. The problem is that when I create the PDF the “sigma” symbol is still showing up under the “work record” field. All the other symbols associated with the field are gone (which is great — that’s what I’d like!), but I’m left with a lone sigma which seems out of place on the invoice.
I’ve attached a PDF of what I’m referring to.
Any thoughts on how I can get this to go away?
Thanks!
Carl
Topic: Painfully Slow / Un-useable
Brendan
First of all – thanks for producing a great piece of software which i found after searching for a replacement for Bento which i used to sync data between mac, iPhone and iPad.
Tap Form ticks all the boxes and i love it but is painfully slow to the point of un-useable. I’ve migrated one table from Bento – which only contains 597 records.
In table view, scrolling up and down i constantly get the beachball.
Granted, my iMac isn’t new – but at 3.06Ghz Core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM i’m not pushing the software – just a basic text based data.
Bento had tens of thousands of records in multiple tables and the iMac handled it with ease.
I cannot fathom out the problem. I’ve done the Vacuum Database / Analyse Database / Re-Index and Re-Build, but still the same annoying beachball while i scroll up and down my records in table format.
Database size is only 35.2MB and my version of Tap Forms 2.2.3 running on Mac OS X 10.9.2
Any ideas before i give up?
Topic: Just an idea…
Hello Brendan!
I am very impressed by Tap Forms and switched completely from Bento. It is easy to use, quite stable and syching via iCloud works well.
While working with it i stumbled over the field “location”. It is nice to know where i have made a note or seeing the address.Than an idea crossed my mind. What of i could see the sum of positions in a report? A field that is showing all positions of a search in an online map? A biologist could see all positions of a seldom flower he found in a certain area or only in 2013. A Salesman could see where his custumers are gathered. An archeologist could see the places where pottery from the 15th century was found in New Caledonia (if he is interested in this). The possibilities are almost infinite. And would be a real stand-off feature.
Would it be possible to create such field? I assume there are a lot of custumers out there that would highly appreciate such feature.
Best regards,
Alexander
