Hey, really like Tap Forms. Never used Bento but was a loooong time Approach user and had been looking for a Mac replacement. Mega-Thanks! Question though…

I Use a 13″ MBP. I often print my Multi-Column view. However, when I get to the print screen window, the Cancel and Print buttons are hidden off the bottom of the screen and I cannot scroll down to it. I know the solution is to change the Tap Forms options to any other “options” but it is a little bit of a pain…just want to print it. Is this something you might be working on?

I purchased Tap Forms just 4 days into the trial. I developed my database on my imac but now cannot set up sync between the iMac (El Capitan – which I hate) and a new Mac Pro desktop (Yosemite). The Mac Pro sees itself but does not see the iMac but the iMac sees itself and the Mac Pro.I have followed pages 49 and 50 in the manual and watched the YouTube video on syncing. Neither help.
Very frustating as I purchased Tap Forms after leaving Bento behind and put 4 days into developing my DB. Help please.

I’ll give it a go. Very subtle and I should have thought of that. This is my second review of your product to see if I can move my wife’s dance studio from Bento to your product and I’m moving. TapForms has matured quite a bit since I last look and the iPhone/iPad applications are outstanding. Thanks for making and improving what is an outstanding product going above and beyond anything Bento could do.

This is a real disappointment. I just purchased the software for Mac and iPad since all the reviews said it would mimic Bento and is even better. It is virtually useless to me because none of the images migrated to the iPad and I don’t have a choice in form views. This is a MAJOR problem with this software. It seems that people have been asking for this for two years, and it hasn’t happened. I will be requesting a refund for both products.

I have a Bento database that I imported into Tap Forms on the Mac. Each record has an image and they all display fine. I set up iCloud Sync and this database synced to the iPhone, but the photo field just shows greyed out. If I tap it, it immediately brings up a sheet asking me if I want to take a photo or choose one from my library. If I leave the record open, I don’t see any progress indication that the photo is loading?

Is this not supported?

Hello,

I made imported a bento database. As Faith above, I can not see the images in the record screen, the list screen shows the thumbnails fine. Any suggestions?
I tried copying all the images to the Library folder following an instruction you gave in a previous post I can not locate now, but this did not seem to work.I am not interested in syncing with iCloud or dropbox because the images are not small.

Imported a movie library from Bento but would like to have the coloured bars beside the case cover thumbnail in the title list and genre field as in the supplied sample My Movie Library. Discovered how to edit pick lists adding colour but it doesn’t seem to be applied in the forms. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

What I mean is right now the main form entry area is plain looking so my eye tends to drift over to the much more colorful sidebar. I noticed that an earlier version of Tap Forms had a more Bento looking sidebar which it what I would probably use most of the time if it were a choice. I hope that makes sense.

I was wondering if there were plans to implement backgound patterns like there is in Bento? I like how the entry area becomes visually dominant that way. It would also be nice to have an option to use the forms sidebar that is less visually dominant perhaps that you could change under preferences.

Other then that I really like the program! I just started using it and looks like it will become a great Bento replacement.

Hi Sherri,

You could try exporting without data then import the template into Tap Forms. That’ll re-create the form structure for you. Then you could try exporting the data as a CSV (Text) File in Bento. Then import that into Tap Forms by using the Import Records function. Choose the previous form that you imported from the Bento template that had no records on the Import Records window in Tap Forms.

Make sure that the date and time formats match what you’re getting from the exported file from Bento.

Not sure if that’ll work for you.

You could also email me a backup of your Bento database (a .bentodb file) and I could try generating the template export with records for you if you like.

Each time I try to export my Bento database by File/Export/save as Template, the &*(&%ing thing freezes at the 17th record. I even tried deleting the 17th record thinking that might be corrupt.
I suspect Bento just doesn’t have the legs to run this program…

Is there any other way I can transfer the almost 2000 customer records and their related sales info into TapForms??

(I’ve got my fingers crossed!)

Hi there,

I’m using tab forms for keeping track of my wine cellar. I need to create a save search to show me just the wines that have past their pick, based on the info provided in a date field “Best before” and I can’t figure out how to do that. In Bento I had a collection with the following rule applied:
“Best before” is before “Today”.
In Tab Forms, when I select the Comparison “is before”, the only available option in the value field is to select a specific date!

Any advice?

Hello Brendan

Have been using TapForms for a while now and love how it has evolved and grown on the Mac and IOS.

I know this question is really based upon the structure of the database but if a pick list could reference a field in another table for its values that would go a long way in the database. Right now a linked table cannot display its values in the column view.

As an example

I have a projects table and I link task, team members and logs to the project and to each other. If on the task list I have a pick list that referenced the Projects Table that field should be able to be included in the column sorting and other places where linked information would not currently show, or at least in my perfect world that is how it would work.

Not many databases offer this for pick list type fields but I think it would serve a great purpose!

Thanks for all of your hard work on TapFoms, it was a great find after Bento folded!

Hey Folks,
I just installed TF on my mac and my iPhone. I am having a dickens of a time synching. Both the air and the phone show as registered on the mac and on the phone. I click on the sync button at the bottom right of the air screen and it does “something” But NOTHING gets to the phone!!! I’m getting a tad desperate here as I have to do some work but I don’t want to do this in Bento.

I’ve tried resetting the synch twice, nothing happens. I’ve tried synching both dropbox and iCloud and neither seems to work. The MacAir and the iPhone are seeing each other so I’m totally confused here as to what’s going on. Anyone? Idea?

I’ve recently bought the Mac and iPhone apps. Been testing them out before I completely switch. I am still using Bento for now in the real world until I am confident that the features I need work well, if not perfectly.

One thing that’s not working for me is sync (I’m using Dropbox). There’s probably just something that I am not doing correctly, since the articles and reviews I’ve read online say that sync works.

1. I make changes on my Mac and also on my iPhone, and the changes are not showing up on both devices accordingly. Records I add and/or update on one device do not get added/updated on the other device after I clicked on “sync” on both devices a few times.

2. One time, when I opened my iPhone app, I noticed that it was counting records down like the first time I imported my database into my iPhone. Does it do that every sync? I have a lot of records in my database, so this process I noticed took several minutes.
