As mentioned, disappointingly my iPad Air 2 copy of Tap Forms (v 3.9.4) crashes instantly when I try to do anything related to iCloud sync, except it does allow me to enter a security code. Otherwise I’ve searched high & low & followed all the suggestions posted elsewhere. I get crashes when I try to enable iCloud sync and also when I try to do an iCloud sync reset. I have the latest versions of all operating systems & Tap Forms (forgot to mention I bought all 3 versions & the Mac & iPhone versions are working just fine, synced a large DB of my magic trick inventory exported from Bento into Tap Forms on the Mac qwith the iPhone 6 Plus). I did the hard reset thing and the uninstall/reinstall thing and the “how to get iCloud sync working again” instructions but no luck. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks & nice to meet everyoine,
Jan
Topic: Beta Testers Wanted
Hey there,
I could use a few more beta testers for the next update to Tap Forms Mac and iOS. If anyone is interested, please email me your Mac’s hardware UUID and email address you would like me to use for TestFlight (Apple’s beta testing system). I’m just looking for bug reports, crash reports, and any usability issues you find with the new release.
* Bento-like spreadsheet view for the records list view. You can select individual cells and edit them as you would in a spreadsheet program.
* Copy the contents of the values to the clipboard so you can paste into Excel or Numbers in a tab delimited format.
* “Email Selected Addresses…” command to address a new email to multiple selected recipients.
* Accessory views in the records list view for editing notes, dates, and for QuickLook of photo fields.
* Dropbox or iCloud sync (requires iOS beta version too)
* Multi-currency support
* Variable substitution in Website fields. That is, you can inject the value of another field into a website field.
* Ability to control the tab order of fields in your custom layouts. Just arrange the fields in the Layers tab up or down to control the tab order. From top to bottom in the layers list is how the tab ordering will go.
* Background colour can be set on a custom layout.
* Mac version can sync on a schedule.
* You can now set a colour to represent a Pick List value. Plus you can set the “Record Colour Field” on your form. When you do this, Tap Forms will place a coloured vertical line indicator next to the record in the records list view to give you another way of organizing your data. For example, if you had a todo list, you could have red for high priority, yellow for normal priority and green for low priority. So let me know if you’re interested by sending me an email and I’ll email you the link to download the beta version.
Attached is a screenshot of the Mac beta.
Thanks!

Hi! I just bought Tap Forms because Bento was getting a bit slow and unstable here. So far, I’m quite happy with this app, but there’s one feature that I really miss: I usually add data in the table view and in Bento I could move from text fields to checkboxes using the ‘tab’ key. In Tap Forms, this doesn’t seem possible, pressing tab skips the checkbox, and goes instantly to the next text field. Would it be possible to add this feature? It would make the app a lot easier to use!!
Thank you!
Is there a way to link to existing records in another form, but make each link exclusive to only one parent record? To make this clearer (hopefully) here’s my use case: I have a parent record which are wines. I have child records which are wine storage locations. These locations are pre-defined and limited since there are only so many locations. With a many to many link, I can associate different locations to different wines. Good so far. But ideally, I would like the child storage location records linked to ONLY one wine since I can’t store two wines in the same location. Kind of like a one to many link. In addition, when I drink a wine (Yay!), that location should now be made available so another wine can be linked to that location when I buy another one and put it there.
What I am basically looking for is a one to many record link, with the ability to link ONLY to existing records that aren’t already linked to another parent record. And then, as I de-link child records, those will be made available for linkage to other parent records. I know, theoretically this shouldn’t happen. But it does. This would be an added integrity feature/check.
I will be converting from Bento (tested the import in the demo version and it worked like a champ!). Bento seems similar to TF in that I can mistakenly link to a child record (wine location) that is already linked to another parent, so I’m not losing anything here moving to TF. Just was wondering if TF can, or maybe in the near future will, give me this added ability.
By the way, TF seems to be a great product. Easier and better than Bento in many ways – especially the iCloud sync. Wish I would have discovered TF earlier! Thanks.
My phone number field formats beautifully when I enter a 9 digit phone number i.e. (206) 542-8878, but when I export to an excel file, I just get 2065428878 – not pretty at all. Is there something I can do to make it format with the (area code) brackets, etc? In the example below, the ones with the brackets are ones I imported from Bento, the one without, I just entered.
Topic: Database Location
I am about to switch from Bento and was manipulating your included various forms to see how they worked. I now want to find the database so I can delete it and start fresh again. Where is the database located?
Former Bento user here. Happy to have found Tap Forms as a new home for our Bento records. And also great to see a developer (Brendan) so actively involved in connecting with their users.
My apologies if this has been answered elsewhere —
We had several Bento database sets that were on an iPad — not synced or connected with a Mac or any other devices.
Have successfully done the following:
-Transferred the Bento files from the iPad to a Mac.
-Exported the Bento files.
-Imported the Bento files into Tap Forms on the Mac.Now we would like to transfer the Tap Forms forms back into the iPad, but want to avoid the sync process (Mac is not Yosemite, different iCloud accounts, and we simply don’t need sync) — we just need the forms on the iPad, not on the Mac.
Is there a way to export or send the forms from the Mac to the iPad, and be done with it?
Thanks!
