    Hi Scott,

Well, now we’re getting off-topic since this has nothing to do with Bento to Tap Forms :-)

That setting is for new images selected. It won’t scale existing images.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

Hi, I just installed Tapforms on a MAC, 2 iPhones, and an iPad & love the application – thanks!

I am attempting to move a form from a MAC laptop to an iPad (owned through different iCloud accounts – hence cannot sync) – I’ve exported a form from the MAC to it’s desktop as a CSV file; then eMailed that file to the user of the iPad; opened the file on the iPad using the technique you’ve described above; TF launched; I found the file in the Import Files; specified ‘Import File’; and then I am presented with the Import File screen showing 4 lines: Filename; Filename.cv; # bytes; and # rows. However, I’m not sure where to go from here. If I look at my forms, the newly imported file does not show up. Do I need to use the Web Server?

By the way, I’m slightly off topic here as the exported file is not from Bento, but rather form the MAC instance of TF.

    Hi Brendan,

I reverted all to ‘none,’ removed the Tap Forms folder and rebooted my iPad and my iMac. I reselected the Dropbox, re-authenticated, re-enabled the sync. But my iPad is still only showing itself as a Tap Forms device. My iMac isn’t showing any device.

Dropbox is showing a Tap Forms folder in its Appfolder. But the iPad isn’t showing the additions that I had imported from Bento into the Mac Tap Forms. (That is the main reason I purchased the apps, so as not to have to start from scratch. (the other was because once I have to update my Mac (i.e. purchase a new one) I won’t be able to read Bento anymore))

What am I overlooking? I feel a little bit helpless now.

    Regards
    Kim

    Hello,

I installed a separate purchase on my iPad Mini which is running the latest iOS. But every time I open Tapforms it crashes. Does not have the same problem on the iphone.

Other than that, just got all set up, drop box synced and data fields and forms all written. Works amazing and way better than Bento (5 year bento user).

    Thanks Brendan

    It’s probably something I’m doing wrong but…. :-)
I imported a Bento template into Tap forms containing customers records. It worked fine and everything showed up as it should. I’ve since been playing around with a new layout positioning fields as I want them and have started to edit some of the records.
What I’m finding is after editing for example names, the record changes to my edit but them reverts back to the original details. I can alter the records again and the details seem to change to the new details, but later, when I return to the edited record, the old details have replaced to new ones again!!!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Hi Sandra,

I’m very sorry for the Reply button issue. I just use WordPress with BBPress as my forum software. I’m not sure why it would think you’re not logged in. I didn’t write this forum software. I just use it.

I am working on an upgrade of Tap Forms which improves the sync process significantly. I’m about 2 months away from finishing it. There will also be new features that Bento never had.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

The Reply function here doesn’t like the iPad either. Keeps telling me to log in to Reply even when I’m logged in.
As much as I like this software I sure wish FileMaker would bring back support for Bento. It was so much better.

    Hi Brendan,

Thanks for your reply. I still can’t get the two (iMac and iPad) to sync properly. The Tapform files are locatable within my Dropbox (which seems to be syncing) The iPad isn’t taking on any new forms that I had made (I had imported the data from Bento), it does, however, locate a document that I’d attached to something.

I followed the directions from the User’s manual (iCloud and Dropbox Sync – Tap Forms Mac – 3.0). I also rebooted my iPad. I am not sure what I am overlooking. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Regards
    Kim

I just purchased both versions for Mac and IOS iPad. My Mac is still running on Mavericks and won’t sync. I do realize it is an Apple thing. But could a work around be just to export the data, upload it to Numbers in the cloud and import it to my iPad Tap Forms? Or should I just try synching to DropBox? I’ve heard that my old Bento won’t run on the current Mac System, so I am anxious to transfer data as soon as I can.

    Thanks,
    Kim

I just purchased Tap Forms a few days ago after using it in trial mode for several days. Today when starting up it asked for an Encryption Key. I thought that was the license key and used that. It would not unlock. Then I realized maybe it was an actual encryption key that it wanted. That is highly unusual since I never set encryption on the application.

So is all my data lost? I have most of my data from before I converted from Bento, but all the work since is that lost?

How do I recover from this?

If this happened to me now, will this happen again in the future? If so I am questioning my purchase.

Hi there, I have imported my invoice database from bento and everything seems fine!! The only thing that is strange is the field I use for Hours Worked will not accept anything other than whole numbers. For example I can not enter 6.5 into that field, it always rounds up. Not that I mind that :-) but it is not accurate. I have to believe this issue is in something I have done. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks!

I agree you can just ignore the default forms, but they are just in the way if you have a custom form. If TapForms is set up for someone else to use they can get lost when they click on the default form and don’t know how to get back to where they were.

ID, creation date, modification date don’t need to be edited. I know the date fields were not editable in Bento. An option is to make read-only fields editable in the default form, but not the others.

No matter how implemented validation should be available as it helps to guarantee record completeness.

One option is have Save and Cancel buttons that are enabled when a field is edited forcing the user to acknowledge that changes were made. Another option is to run the validation as soon as a field is exited or there is an attempt to change records. Being able to make a change without committing is not optimal if database completeness is the goal. Of course if someone wants to use it as is then they not have any validation.

    Thanks.

    Hi Pat,

I’m getting much closer now to finishing this. Probably 2 months out now.

The WiFi sync in Tap Forms will be better than Bento’s since you won’t really even have to do anything other than launch Tap Forms on each device. It’ll find each other on the network and start the sync process automatically.

    Thanks!

    Brendan

    Hello

I have info in the database I do not want to leave my office to the cloud. Just want you to know there are those out here still interested in WiFi Sync, just like in Bento.

I moved to Tap Forms from Bento. In Bento I had the option of a Grid View of my data where I could see just the photos of my product inventory. Under each photo was the item name. Is this possible in Tap Forms and if so how?
