Topic: Where is iPad companion app?
Dear Wisdom,
I have just paid £49 to switch from Bento to Tap Forms, but after downloading the mac desktop version, the iPad app does not appear on my iPad store as a free download (as it did with Bento). What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!
This database was brought from Bento through importing an exported template made in Bento.
Made a new layout and dragging over the existing fields wanted in that new layout.
However, the field I want in the new layout, drags over as one of the other fields in the list.
To test this, I created a new field in TF, and tried dragging that over into the new layout. Same result, only a different field drags over.
I have tested this several times to ensure I am clicking and dragging the field I want. For instance: Field I want is International. The field that shows up is Billing Dates.
I’m stumped and can’t move forward with new layouts.
Thanks
Hi Brendan or Mike,
Several days ago, I was sent a notice saying there was an update so I installed it. I believe it was Tap Forms 5.1.2 Build 1652.
I opened my Single View Mode custom form (that I had spent hours perfecting) but the font I used, Helvetica Medium Condensed, got substituted by Helvetica Regular. Quite honestly, this is a disaster because Helvetica Regular is fat and also has a different height. All the text in my text fields are in the wrong place, lower down than they should be. And the fat width causes some text to disappear, making the form unusable.
Is there a global way to set for all forms or even a single form (but all layouts) with a default typeface, e.g., Helvetica Condensed Medium (of varying point sizes)?
This will take me hours to fix manually.
I wonder what went wrong. Not sure if I can go back to former backup and it will all look right again.
Still love it, however. I’m so chuffed by the amazing labels printing ability. That is saving me so much time! Light years ahead of Bento.
Please se attached why I can only use Helvetica Condensed Medium and please see the new update version which has replaced that font with Helvetica Regular.P.S. Also, strangely, I just noticed that when you print or create a PDF wth the new version that the top of the single view layout disappears and the whole thing is too high. How do I fix that—because in Sungle View Mode it looks correct (but not when it’s printed.)
Cheers,
BobTopic: Relationships the other way
Hi,
I’d wish that there was a way to do the following things:
1.) I have built a database of collected song-scores I sing with my choirs. There are fields for the Composer, the Lyric-Writer and the Arranger – sometimes same sometimes different persons. Now I’d like to have a way to set a relationship to a second database, where I could save further informations about this persons (Birthday, Place of birth and so on).
Okay – I could set a normal relationship to a second database. But then I always get a table for each person – that doesn’t look very nice ;)
2.) It would be another way to add a additional table column in the relationship-table wich only exists in the first database. On this way I could build a relationship to the person-database and add the information of the song (Composer, Arranger …) in the first. I do remember that it was possible in Bento to expand such tables.
That would be also handy for this example – I have a database of workshops. There I want to have a relationship-table of the members of the workshop. Up here no problem. (Contact database as source) But when I want to add the information if the single members have paid their contribution, I don’t see a way to do this.Any ideas to do this on a other way?
Greetings from Germany, Eike
PS: Sorry for mistakes! I give my best to write english without the help of google ;)
Hi Brendan,
Got to share a quirk with you. I have a fairly complex Single View Mode Layout. I changed 5 fields from number to calculation field type. I deleted the old number fields, renamed them and placed the new calculation fields in the layout. But the fields wouldn’t show up in my custom layout. Not in Form Mode after I placed them. I made a backup, switched to default layout, used edit and save in Form Mode. They were not “there” in any fashion displaying the correct calculation except, oddly, the subsequent calculation field display the correct, modified amount. I tried everything to make them show. They finally appeared when I went back to each calculation field and hit the Calculation field type button and kind of “recharged” it. It gave me the serious warning that data may disappear that you always get when changing most fields to another type (hence my reluctance to say yes to that dialogue.) I’m curious as to why re-choosing the Calculation field type (even though it was showing that they were already Calculation Fields) was necessary. It seems the first time I changed from the Number Field to the Calculation field didn’t really get executed. Not sure why I had to do it again, after much frustration and time lost. Also, separately, it appears to me that sometimes using Currency Style is hard to make the dollar sign show up. I’ve successfully made it show up on some fields but not others. For instance, they show easily on some calculation fields, but not on some number fields, no matter what options I try. There seem to three options I can set: 1. Obviously, selecting Number Style with Currency Style option is the first step. Then 2. I can leave Currency as Unspecified or choose US Dollar. And then 3. finally I can select either 0 or 2 decimal places. As said, I have done it successfully with some fields but I can’t seem to replicate my success on other fields. In Default display layout it works perfectly but in my rather complex Single Mode View form it doesn’t seem to show up. It don’t believe it’s because the fields (where it doesn’t work) are too narrow. Is there a combo of settings that’s fast and reliable where the dollar sign appears? Again, I’ve tried every kind of refresh I know, like saving in Form Mode from Edit Mode, making a back up and closing and reopening the file, switching to default mode, etc.
I have few other foibles but that’s enough for now.
Still love the software. You guys are geniuses. A multi-billion dollar couldn’t do it, but you could! How’s that for small business innovation? Bento was crap compared to this—and I loved Bento at the time too!
Is there a way I can share my whole database with you… so you can see where I’m going wrong with these little things?
Cheers
Bob
Sorry if this is a newbie question … is there a way to edit Mac contacts from within TF5? Like how Bento used to work?
I’ve created a contact field, can select and see some contact details, but can’t seem to edit the contact record.
Thanks.
