As a recovering Bento user, I must say that Tap Forms looks like an excellent replacement. I have converted by old Bento DBs into Tap Forms and am learning my way around it. I am especially appreciative of it being available on Mac, iPhone, & iPad, and also the iCloud syncing. That was a requirement for any Bento replacement.

Onto the issue. I have a form that has a link to a small snippet of video. All told, I have perhaps a couple dozen records, each of which has a small movie (.m4v, .mp4) linked. I did this on the Mac (I prefer to do the main editing setup on the Mac and then push the files to the iDevices. I use the iDevices to reference the DB and to make small updates/changes). When I synced via iCloud, the forms and links came across just fine.

One thing I noticed on my iDevices was that the links to the movies came across fine, but took forever to load the first time. Looking into the attachment folder, I saw that the movies are there, but not downloaded to the iDevice. They are in the cloud (yay!), just not all downloaded (not so yay). Now if I try and open the Movie, it will slowly churn and eventually open the Movie. Looking at the attachments folder, indeed the file has been downloaded. (yay!)

My question is, it will be rather laborious to have to tap to open each movie on each device to get it to download. Is there a way to force this to occur globally? Or, perhaps, I should use the web feature to load the movies from my Mac directly to the iDevice? How does that play with the links I have wrt iCloud?

I’d like to avoid having to march trough manually and I’d like to download the files now over wireless so I do not need to download them over cellular, should I call upon one. If I must download each to each iDevice from the cloud I will, but naturally I prefer not to.

I’ve got to reset iPhone backup password Windows for I forgot it, how to retrieve iPhone backup password to bring back my data? I can recover my lost music, photos, contact address, etc. I have used to deal with iTunes backup password. I searched my problem via Google, and discover an instrument "Tenorshare iPhone Backup Password Unlocker". Does anyone utilize it before, what about the app?

Used to do try the tool as below methods and all of accomplishing this and results prove that this software is actually great for us to disable iTunes backup password.
Step 1: Chose the iPhone backup password unlock tool to import the saved backup file
Download the wonderful "Tenorshare iPhone Backup Unlocker" via its official website firstly. Then click more than once to put in it and run it. You will see a principal interface to prompt: click "Open" to import the backup file via its navigation.

Step 2: Identify the attack mode to backup password for iTunes.
If we would not remember the password completely, we possibly need choose Brute-force Attack to get back password via various characters combination trying.
If we still remember component password, including some digital, character, length, special symbols, etc., it’s possible to certainly use mode – Brute-force with Mask Attack.
If we’ve the habit of smoking of documenting or keeping our password being file, the mode can often be the greatest selection: Dictionary Attack.

With clicking "Start", you might select to start with our forms of password. Numerous attack modes, it’ll match different time. The Brute-force Attack could cost the necessary time. After finished, you’ll return back lost data on iPhone.

So, we can easily reset iPhone encrypted backup password using the pro iPhone backup password software, also disable iPhone backup password.

    Hi Brendan and Eric,

The same thing just happened to me. I was in the middle of using TapForms when my phone (3GS) crashed (it locked up and screen dimmed). At the time, I was in a notes field copying a line of text. When I started the iPhone again and went back to Tapforms, all I got is the screen asking for my encryption key. I’ve never encrypted anything in TapForms.

I tried my iPhone password and, among other things, the line of text I was copying at the time the phone crashed. Nothing lets me in.

I have a two day old backup I can restore to but there are also more recent records I would like to recover.

I followed the instructions at https://www.tapforms.com/forum/topic/passcode-or-encryption-key-not-functioning-after-last-update to reinstall TapForms. It reinstalled fine, and worked fine, until I restored my backup, which immediately brought back the encryption window.

I downloaded the TapForms_db.sqlite file and opened it in BBEdit and I can see some of the last two days data messily hidden in there. I installed a free trial version of RazorSQL to try and open it directly without success. Perhaps there is some corruption in there that TapForms is interpreting as encryption?

I accept that I will likely have to give up and accept a couple of days lost data (or trawl through the sqlite file and manually extract what I can). Before I do so, is there any general default encryption password that would have been set when this crash occurred?

Any help would be great. Otherwise, this is FYI and I am about to restore my iPhone in iTunes.

    Cheers,

    Jon

    Hi there,

I did an import to update a database of 160 records and all of the photos are gone. They do not appear in the photos folder when using the web server, either. Is there a way to recover these?

    Hello Satman,

This is odd. Are you talking about the 4 digit pin code? Or the encryption key? The pin code is stored in the secure keychain on the iPhone. When you delete an app, it deletes the keychain entries. So it’s odd that it’s asking you for your pin code. If it’s the encryption key that you’re being asked for and you’ve enabled full-database encryption, then there’s nothing that can be done to recover the data without entering the correct encryption key. But you would have had to have typed in the correct encryption key when you encrypted the database in the first place.

So, is it the 4 digit pin code or the encryption key that’s not working?

    Thanks,

    Brendan

I’m having trouble with this… I’ve hidden and then unhidden a form and now I can’t seem to find the filled in records that it’s telling me exist. I tap on a previously hidden form and there’s no records. Then I create a new record and it disappears. Not sure how to recover these forms – I can’t even manage to export them. Suggestions?

I just bought Tap Forms after looking at many different, but similar applications. My compliments on a very creative, well designed, and artfully implemented application.

I would like to store password and other confidential / sensitive information in Tap Forms, but the one thing that is making me hold off on that is that if perchance I lost my phone, there is no way to make sure that the data is does not fall into the wrong hands.

I would ideally like to see 2 data security features added to Tap Forms which, I think, would make it virtually perfect.

    1. An access pass code that is an alphanumeric password (much like the encryption key)instead of a 4 number PIN code – for obvious security reasons.

    2. An extra option on your lockout time list such that if you entered the password wrong more than ‘X’ times, the program would self destruct / erase / shred all data without any notice – until after it was done. I would personally set it to erase on the second bad try. If you erased it yourself by mistake, you could always recover using a restore from your PC or MAC.

An extra security option for (2) would be to set the phone to erase your data if you did not successfully sign onto Tap Forms at least once every ‘X’ days. Any successful sign on would reset the counter. Of course, you would want to alert the user with a warning of some sort (email, window on the screen, etc) if they were getting close to the security time window. With this option, you could be sure that your security would hold off a thief at least until the phone automatically erased all of your sensitive data within ‘X’ days. I haven’t seen any other applications with a security option like this. I believe that it would give you some serious competitive advantage in the marketplace.

These additional features would virtually eliminate the risk of a thief getting any of your sensitive information, especially if you had a good password and a low ‘try’ threshold.

Any chance of seeing something to increase data security in the event of a lost iPhone in the near future?

    1. I have tested again with a different computer (Windows 7) and different network (D-link wi-fi router) and backup worked. Although I am yet to figure out correct setting for the first network (Airport Express) and computer (Vista) where everything else works and firewall is set to allow SyncDoc connection.

Note1: As I was able to make a back up I have secured the contents by password protecting the folder using 7Zip (open source) thus avoiding exposing the picture and audio files.

Note2: I have also recovered the lost audio and pictures files which were there in the backup folder. So while deleting a field delete the data, it does not delete the photo and audio files. Back up is a way to recover those.

    2. I understood.

    3. I have tried to open the sqLite file and you are right. I won’t mess that file. What I did not knew before is that all the databases in Tapforma are infact part of one sqlite database. The forms are not individual databases.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Everything is working nicely. Hopefully 1.8.2 will make things even better.

    Version 1.8

    Problem 1: Backup

I had downloaded SyncDoc and backed up successfully first time. It was a test so in order to change the backup location I deleted the first back up and tried again in the same computer as well as in a different laptop. Although Tap forms can see the SyncDoc surver running, it wont backup. Selecting the server give a notice “Invalid Server The server selected was not a valid SyncDocs server”. Is there a solution to this problem?

Problem 2: Changes made in form

I wanted to make a new database based on the format of a existing one. I thought the forms behave as templates (it does but only when you make a copy) so I modified a existing frame by deleted some of the field and adding a few. The result is that I lost several fields in my previous database. I could not find or recover those data. Question–> Are those data are still in there or they gets deleted and cleared up automatically?

    A separate question:

Is there a way to get the whole database (not export)intact copied in my PC? If yes then is it possible to use a program like SQLite Expert (I am guessing that Tap Form database is based on SQLite)to edit and modify the database?

A Note: Despite my extensive search I could not find a easy to use database program like Tap Forms, Bento, Clarisworks for Windows PC. I have tried MS Access and others.
