    Hi Brendan

I’m interested in the new Join type of Link. However (probably as it is so new), I could not find it in the manual I have just looked at.

Is it possible, whenever a new or amended feature is introduced, to post on a regular area of the support site the text which will go into the manual regarding new feature(s), and for this to be available until the manual is updated?

Reference could be made to this in the manual, so people know where to look for updated features.

In relation to the links, could you give examples of the different types of link which are available, and how these work? Also, can you point to sample forms where these links (or any other features) are used, so that users can look at a sample file, to see the features in action?

    With best wishes

    John

    Hi John,

I did update the manual a while ago with a blurb about the Join Link Type:

    https://www.tapforms.com/help-mac/5/en/topic/relationships

Perhaps you were looking at the Tap Forms 3 manual?

It does describe what the different Link Types are used for.

If you go to the Template Exchange forum you’ll see a post with a form you can download that has a bunch of different relationships to different forms:

Projects template showing relationships to other forms

It doesn’t have the new Join Link Type because I created that before I added the Join feature.

I’m also working on a video that I’ll post soon that has some tutorials on how to use the new features in Tap Forms 5.2.

    Thanks, Brendan

I can see where the confusion arose.

I went to the Support Home page, and clicked on the link to open the v5 manual: https://www.tapforms.com/help-mac/5/en/topic/introduction. The online version does indeed include Joint Link Type.

However, as I wanted to refer to it off-line, I then went to the bottom of the page, and clicked on the download option: https://cdn.manula.com/user/1444/1328_7562_en_1470302328.pdf?v=20160827194820

This downloads the old manual version “5.0 — Last update: 2016/08/27”, which does not include details of the Joint Type relationship.

Presumably the download link will be quick to change!

Thanks for the pointer re the template exchange – I’ll look at that.

    With best wishes

Oops. I forgot that I have to click a button to update the PDF version occasionally. It doesn’t automatically update whenever I make changes to the online manual. I’ve just done that now.

Thanks for letting me know about the outdated PDF version.

    Brendan
