GlennParticipantIn TF4, I used to generate my own form record id’s in some applications where I was extracting data from other systems, and making sure imports to TF appended rather than duplicated everything.
So I went to the trouble of importing some sheets in V5, setting my own form_record_id, but on subsequent imports, everything is duplicated, and so I exported the data back out to that i had just imported to see that none of my own record id’s exist for the records, and is replacedt by the internally generated long string.
Please tell me we can still set our own form record ID’s like TF4 to avoid duplication of records.

BrendanKeymasterI’ll have to look into this feature. Sorry about that.

BrexParticipantI’m also struggling with this problem and it’s not clear if it’s been resolved since August 2016.
I’m in trial period of TF5. I’ve spend many hours building TF database using my own form_record_id’s which seem to be the only way to efficiently import and merge third party data with non-random identifiers. In this case I’m bringing together various financial databases which all use an industry-standard stock identifier called an “ISIN” (a 16 character unique string of numbers/letters).
TP5 keeps overwriting my form_record_id’s with auto-generated keys, making TP5 useless for this project. Everything gets duplicated – rather than updated – with each import, regardless of what I do
This seems like a huge achilles heel. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a fatal flaw in TP5? I don’t understand how anyone else could use TP5 to merge data

BrexParticipantI should add that the Form itself seems to get corrupted and insists on using autogenerated form_record_id’s if you try to start over. I’ve copied Form, so it’s empty, and tried to add a single record with my preferred form_record_id, one of these ISIN codes that looks like this – US90138A1034 – but when I export this single record it’s also been overwritten by the random form_record_id
Help!

BrendanKeymasterSo there was a bug that was preventing the custom IDs from being used. I’ve just fixed it. Sorry it took me so long. It’ll be in the next update.
If you’d like to get an advanced copy so you can try it out and let me know if the fix works for you, please email me at support@tapforms.com.
