I have encountered something that might be a bug in working with linked records between forms:
I have two forms, one being the parent and another being the child and they are linked by a link to form field with a Many to Many relationship.
When I press the icon with the circled arrow (“view selected linked record details”) in the form fields table layout in the parent form, it takes me to what looks like a filtered view of the linked form layout, with only those child records showing that are linked to the parent record. So far so good. I could now edit the child records within the linked form’s layout, which works fine. A circled arrow at the top of this view brings me back to the parent form.
Here’s the problem: if I right click on one of the linked records in this view, I can choose to delete that child record. My expectation would be, that deleting a record here would simply unlink it from the parent record, thus removing it from this view, but keep the actual record intact. If I click delete, a message will come up actually confirming this behavior by stating “Unlink Records? Unlinkd records can always be relinked again later.”
The problem is, if I click “Unlink” in this prompt, the child record is actually deleted from the child form entirely and not just unlinked from the previously selected parent form’s record. It will not show in the unfiltered records list of the linked child form and can only be retrieved from the trash afterwards.
This happens every time I try deleting a record in this view. In case I am wrong in expecting an unlink instead of a delete here, that is fine of course, if not very intuitive, but then that prompt should definitely be corrected to state that the child record is deleted permanently.
