    Brendan,

In dropbox the TFSyncDoc files seems to be added with a sequential number [1……8]in the folder. Aren’t the ones that has been used (synced to all devices) deleted?
Is it save to delete old ones after getting for sure every sync has occurred?

    Hi Leo,

No, they’re never deleted unless you do a Reset Sync.

The reason is because you may decide at some point to add a new device to your sync pool. When that happens, Tap Forms must go through each file sequentially to update the local database with the changes provided by the TFSyncDoc files.

When you do a Reset Sync and then upload again, it will start at [0].tfx again. The [0].tfx file contains a snapshot of the entire database at that moment in time. It happens for each device you upload from. The reason for that is because you may have Reset Sync, then added data to each device independently. So Tap Forms needs to upload the entire database from each device to the cloud so that they can be merged during the sync operation.

    Thanks,

So basically it’s a good idea to do a Reset Sync every once in a while to clear out all those TFSyncDoc files.

If Tap Forms used a centralized database in the cloud somewhere this wouldn’t be necessary. But it uses a distributed system of file syncing between devices in a peer-to-peer configuration rather than a client/server configuration.
