I am very keen to understand the sync options of Tap Forms Pro (TFP) for Mac.

    1.
Do both versions of TFP sync with iCloud?

I thought I recall Apple only allowing apps in the Mac App Store to interact with its iCloud storage.

    2.
Where can we find information on Dropbox sync option?

    Hi Kurtois,

    1. Tap Forms Pro for Mac and iOS will sync using iCloud if you choose that option. Pro needs Pro to sync. It won’t sync with Tap Forms 5. Tap Forms Pro right now is only available on the Mac App Store for now. If I do get a direct download version published, it will still be able to sync with the App Store version because Apple does allow other apps to sync over iCloud even if not installed from the App Store. Tap Forms 5 is a good example of that.

    2. All the sync options work nearly the same way. The sync service is just the mechanism by which it syncs. I still have to add the Dropbox section to the user manual. But basically when you choose Dropbox, you’ll be asked by Dropbox to authenticate and allow Tap Forms to use your account. You do that on that same document on each device. Then they’ll sync.

    Thanks!

Thank you for the prompt reply.

    Further questions:

    A.
Is a direct download version planned? I noticed you indicated “if”, so I assume it is not set in stone.

    B.
If a user starts using iCloud for sync, but then wishes to move to Dropbox, is that a possibility?

    C. How does one tag a username in a reply in this forum?

    A. I may do it in the future. It requires a bunch of programming now and possibly I have to setup a whole separate licensing server because the company I use no longer provides a licensing service. They did grandfather apps that were already using their system though, so that’s why Tap Forms 5 still works fine.

    B. Yes you can freely switch between different sync services for each document. You just need to select None, then click the Dropbox sync service.

    C. I think using the @ symbol. E.g. @kurtois

Apparently you have to use the username instead of the display name. It might be different depending on the person. You can hover over their avatar to see the username in the link.
