I’ve been using Tap Forms 3.5 for sometime now, but since 3.5 isn’t compatible with the latest MacOS (26) I have touched it for a while so I’m a bit rusty! But I’ve just upgraded to Tap Forms 5 so i’m ready to get going again. I restored my database in Tap Forms 5 from a back up created in 3.5, but I’ve run into a problem with calculated fields right away.

So here’s my situation: I use Tap Forms to keep a database of my collection of cameras. Each record has a field called “Brand” and field called “Model” And a calculated field called “Display name” that combines the two. I then use the “Display name” field in the list of records. All this worked perfectly in Tap forms 3.5. But in Tap Forms 5 I mistakenly hit the refresh icon under the list of recoerds and now the calculated Display name” field has gone blank for all the records displayed at the time.

Also, it seems that whenever I start to edit any record the display name field again goes blank.

Currently thing look completely, uselessly, awful in the list of records as most of them appear as a blank line in the list of records! See the attached screen shot where I’m looking at a record for a Fujica ST901 where the calculated “Display name” field is still working correctly while most of the others in the record list to the left are displaying as blnk lines.

So can anyone tell me how to get my “Display name” caluclated field working again? Mnay thinks in advance for any help you can give.

A screen capture of the calculation would be helpful. My uneducated guess is that the return type is not set to text.

The thing is that all this was working perfectly in Tap Forms 3.5… the problem seems to have arisen specifically in Tap Forms 5. I haven’t doen anything to the definition of this field since getting Tap Forms 5. Anyway here is a screen shot of the setting the the Display Name field. The output type does seem to have been set to Text. If I click on Edit Formula that seems to confirm the output type is set to Text.

Sorry, I’m not familiar with Tap Forms 3.5.

I would try [Brand]+[Space]+[Model] for the calculation.

Yeah, that worked :-) Kinda obvious I suppose, except it wasn’t necessary to put in the pluses in 3.5.

    Thanks!
