Pick List Problem TF 5.0.2

Hi
I have a single value numeric pick list from 0 – 20. I can use it OK in default layout. However, in custom layout nothing happens when I change the value. I have the pick list set to use values from the list. I have tried deleting the pick list and rebuilding it, no luck. I have tried creating a new form with just one field to use the pick list, Same happens, OK in default view but nada in custom layout!!!
Can anyone help me?
