I’m using a notes field on a universal layout with a font other than the System Font. On Mac, I’ve selected the font, the size, and the color. After syncing, when I view records using the universal layout on either my iPad or iPhone, the notes text always first appears in (what seems to be) the system font, not my font. The color and point size seem to be correct however. If I touch the note icon (on the right of the field) as if I plan to edit the text, it appears in the font I chose on Mac, however the point size is now larger. If I press the EDIT button, I can adjust the font size using the keypad Aa icon. I then press DONE and SAVE, but the displayed font on the universal layout remains at the larger size although now in the correct font. It seems to me the attributes of the text displayed in notes fields on iOS is not always updated as it should, or is only partially updated. I’ve also found that attempting to adjust the font size on iOS can make subtle color changes to the displayed text.

Font sizes and colours can unfortunately vary from iOS to Mac and back. It’s a really complicated issue to handle because each treats font sizes differently. For example, a 13 point font on macOS looks just fine, but it looks tiny on iOS. So there is some code in there to try to deal with that. And not all fonts available on iOS are also available on macOS and vice versa.
Font colours can also vary per platform, especially when dealing with light and dark mode variations.
I’ve done my best to try to deal with these platform discrepancies, but it seems there would be more work for me to do to try and better handle these cross platform font and colour issues.
