Finally leaving FMP12 for good. I am trying to replicate a form that served me well in FM. I created a “window” inside a form that was multi column style. When I select or enter a new record, say item “brand”, all other records that were of the same brand were listed in the window. Selecting one, from the window, would move focus to that other record. It has been so long I am not remembering how I did that.

This may be a Pro version item, but not sure.

    Happy Valentines Day all,

    Bruce

    Hi Bruce,

You can add a Link to Form field which will let you have a “window” into another form’s list of records.

See the topic on Relationships here:

Although the content is still relevant, I’ve been a bit delinquent in updating the screenshots on that page.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

Looking at this while not in front of my computer. Very excited that this is possible. Thank you so much.

I have placed the link-to-form window in the main form. I want this window to be one field link to field “Brand”. In the main form, if I select a record the “Brand” of the selected record will generate a list all items from all records with the same “Brand” in the window of the main form. This way I can see all the corresponding records that have the same brand without switching forms. I possibly did not make my desire clear. However I cannot get any records to populate in the window.

    Thanks

Are you using a Join link type for your Link to Form field?

    A screenshot would be helpful.

Here is a screen shot. In the window I would like just the product names not the brand. In FM I was able to as a button, next to the product names and it would take nearly to that items record.

There’s a little tool button at the top-right of the table view there. Click that and you can choose which fields to display in the table. You can also double-click on a row (once you have records in there) and Tap Forms will take you to that record.

I checked and both fields listed are checked.

Then just uncheck the Brand field and click the Save button. It will no longer show in the table.

I understand that, however the fields in the window are not populating with data. Nothing happens in the window.
