Gabrielle StanleyParticipantI have been using TapForms for about 4-5 years now, but was on an old Mac so I used a previous version. I recently bought a new computer and was therefore able to upgrade to 5.3.41 (on Sequoia).
I have found that something that used to work is no longer functioning. but can’t find anything about this in the help.
I am using the database to catalogue my sewing patterns, many of which are available as sets of PDFs, so I keep each pattern in a folder, and up til now have put a link to the filder in a file attachment field. In the previous version this allowed me to click the link and open the folder concerned, however now when I add a link using the arrow/plus icon, the link generated has ‘unknown file type’ in ‘kind’ and I cannot open the folder.
The links that I set up in the previous version do show ‘folder’ as the ‘kind’ however they are no longer clickable links.

BrendanKeymasterHi Gabrielle,
It should still work, even though it says unknown filetype. I just tested it.
Is this for new attachments or old attachments that it’s not working. If you moved to a new Mac, your aliases possibly won’t work and will have to be re-established. It’s a security issue on macOS that’s causing this.
Thanks,
Brendan

CreativeGalParticipantHello, I am having the same issue, Links to files no longer work (yes new Mac here too) I accept I will now have to relink the files but forgot how to do so – It’s been a while. Can you Please give a demo of how to link files and or / relink files. Is is possible to show the path in the Table as well?
Is the linking cloud dependant ? I don’t want to use the cloud any longer and only use Tapforms on one desktop Mac Mini.
Many Thanks

BrendanKeymasterYou’ll just need to click on the alias button on the File Attachment field and re-link the attachment. Sorry about this. But with aliases that’s a bit of a problem when you move to a new Mac.

CreativeGalParticipantI am just getting back to re-establishing my broken links.
1) Is it possible to link to a FOLDER ? I really want to link to folder but when I try to do it, it is grayed out and will not allow me to do proceed. I want to see all the info I have for that project with a single link. Similar to clicking through when a website URL is used. (Love that feature)I have it currently set up as a file attachment. (White sheet with paperclip and.abc) should I have it as a table instead?
2) When it is set up, is this just a LINK to the file or does it add the complete File into Tapforms making my general Tapforms size bigger?
Thanks in advance.

BrendanKeymasterWhen you have the File Attachment field set to Multi-File, you’ll be able to add an alias to a folder. If you’re using the non-Multi-File option, then you can only attach regular files, not folders.

CreativeGalParticipantHello, Thank You for your reply.
Multi File option IS checked.
When I hit the + button under the box /I go to the file/I click on it/It gives me the option to ‘choose’/ I choose that file highlighted and then it Opens the file and I can only add an image FROM within the file not the file itself.
I have unchecked the box closed the program out, opened up the program again and check the multi file option box and it still works as above.
If I remove the Multi File check box, the entire box disappears. See screenshots attached.
Does that lose all my single file links set before ?Can You walk me through the process please.
