Glen ForisterParticipantIn relation to my previous question.
I started to put the text on a layout. Can’t figure it out.
The directions:
“The Text tool allows you to create blocks of text which will stay the same on every record.”
But, where does it tell you how to do this?
Even browsed lots of videos, but it is so simple I guess nobody made a video of it.March 17, 2026 at 12:41 AM #53703
BrendanKeymasterHi Glen,
On a custom layout, make sure the layout inspector panel is visible.
Then click on the A button on the toolbar at the top of the layout inspector panel.
Then click on your layout where you want to insert some text. You’ll see a rectangle appear on your layout. That’s the static text block box.
Now just start typing.
You can use the font toolbar to customize the look of the words in it.
It’s actually identical to the field names that Tap Forms creates for you when you drag a field onto your custom layout. You could also just copy and paste a field and then modify it to say whatever you like.
Just like field labels on your custom layout, they’ll appear on every record.
Thanks,
Brendan

Glen ForisterParticipantWhen I click on the layout after clicking on A which drops the text menu down,
I can then click on the area and nothing happens. If i click and hold I get the rectangle.
But the rectangle does not remain. When I release the trackpad the rectangel disappears and a error sound ? occurs. No box to add text to.March 17, 2026 at 11:33 AM #53722
BrendanKeymasterWhat text menu drops down when you click A?
It’s the tool above the layout inspector panel. The same toolbar that has the mouse cursor, the circle, square, line, A, and the button tool.
When you click A and then click on your custom layout canvas area, you see a rectangle appear.
Just start typing. Don’t click anywhere else first.
If you want to change the text at some point later on, you can go into layout edit mode and double-click on the text box and it’ll go into edit mode.
