Import records: Map new fields to existing fields?

Hi Brendan,

did you ever thought about adding a feature with which one can map new fields (of an import file) to existing fields of the form?

At the moment i run a script on a saved search to copy imported field values to target fields.

Hi Chris,

Ya, that would be good to have. But it’s certainly not too difficult to rename the fields after you import them or rename them in the CSV file before you import them to match the field names within an existing form.

yes, renaming before importing isn’t bad. If one have many different structured import files (with many columns) it would be nice to have the described feature…

That is true. If you have a file that comes from some external source that you don’t have control over and you need to import regularly, then a mapping system would be very beneficial.
