Philippe DupontParticipantHi.
I’m a very new user of Tap Forms.
I’m working on a Mac Book Air with Sonoma 14 1 1 installed and Tap Forms 5 3 35 (all in French).I have some issues with the Import function: I created a csv file from 2do.app to import my data in a Form.
All seem’s to be ok but I import zero record, without any error message 🙁
Is it possible to find a log after the import ?BTW, I tryed to export a record from Tap Forms to a csv file and then to re-import it into Tap Forms without success (and of course, same problem no message).
Please, what can I do ?
Thanks in advancePhil

BrendanKeymasterHi Phil,
On the Import Records screen, there’s an “Add missing fields” option. Make sure that’s turned ON and then try the import again.
Also make sure you use the proper File Encoding setting for the CSV file you’re importing. It needs to match the actual encoding of the CSV file.
Thanks,
Brendan

Philippe DupontParticipantHello and thank you for your (quick) reply.
I’ve checked; the “Add missing fields” option: it’s ON.
However, I had a problem with the header line: 2Do was generating an unnecessary blank character in the name of the imported zones. I’ve corrected this.
I finally managed to load part of my file.
My current problem is that it works sometimes and sometimes not with exactly the same file! (same structure, same data!)
I exited/entered Tap Forms, without success.
I chosed English for Tap Forms rather than French, also without success.
There’s nothing in the Console Log.Is there a way to clean the caches or to see the anomalies during loading? Apparently not.
What else can I do?Thanks in advance. All the best,

Ira SanchezParticipantWere you ever able to figure it out? I’m having the same problem now.

Philippe DupontParticipantHello.
Sorry, I couldn’t find a solution
but I’ll start looking again.

BrendanKeymasterHi Phillipe,
Send me an email with a sample CSV file that’s not importing and I’ll see if I can figure out what’s going wrong. Very often it’s an issue with the column delimiter or file encoding setting in Tap Forms not matching that of the CSV file.
Thanks,
Brendan

Philippe DupontParticipantHello Brendan.
Thanks for the reply.
Sorry for the delay but I’m very busy at the moment (new Mac and gardening).
I tried again with my previous files.
By keeping only a dozen recordings, it works.
However, if I try to load all my recordings from 2Do, I get nothing, and as before, I don’t get any error messages.
I’ll try to investigate further, but it probably won’t be until next weekend…
Best regards,Philippe

Gunnar BlacheParticipantHi all,
I try to import a csv-file, exported from Numbers, also from LibreOfficeCalc and sometimes it works…..but.. in this file are about 90 columns and during the import process some values of 2 or 3 columns are not imported. I will share a sample file of this csv-File (the original has about 6800 rows…..)
Greetings from Germany, Gunnar

BrendanKeymasterI noticed in your file there are a few columns at the end that have no field names. Tap Forms requires every field to have a name and every field must have a UNIQUE name. If not, Tap Forms will not be able to import each field because it uses the field name to match things up when it’s importing the records.

BrendanKeymasterAlso, all 788 records imported. It’s UTF-8 file, so make sure you have UTF-8 selected for the File Encoding setting. And comma separated fields.

Gunnar BlacheParticipantThanks Brendan, I have to do a lot of fine tuning in my CSV-File! I think the problems comes mostly from not having a unique column name.
My CSV was exported form a very old file format used by Lotus Approach. So in the original Lotus (my database) file I have a lot of small BMP-Pictures included which can not exported to CSV/XLS of course. Is there a way to import this database, contains a *.DBT, *.DBF and *.ADX file to each database made by Lotus Approach?

BrendanKeymasterI’m not familiar with those file extensions, so no, Tap Forms won’t be able to import those files. Although actually I remember using .dbf files with FoxPro many many moons ago. But Tap Forms won’t be able to import those either. Sorry. You’ll need a tool to export them to CSV or XLSX files.
