Paul WirthParticipantHi, I bought a subscription to TF Pro several weeks ago, but I have been unable to get iCloud+ sync working to my iPhone.
I have a 75MB TF Pro database document on MacOS that I’ve synced to iCloud+. When I attempt to download it to TF Pro on my iPhone, it never completes. The Documents view shows it maxing out anywhere between 6MB and 37MB.
TF Pro on the mac indicates the sync is fully complete, though. I have plenty of room on the device and in iCloud. This has been happening since before v1.1, and I’m currently on v1.2.
I’ve tried deleting the database from the iPhone, disabling iCloud+ sync and removing the database from iCloud+, and resyncing, but still no luck.

BrendanKeymasterHi Paul,
That’s odd. So when you synced up to Cloud+, did it complete all the way to the end with the progress bar? It should give you an estimate of how long it will take and it counts up the number of items to sync.
Then on your other device it should download that same number of items that it previously uploaded from the original device.
Do you have a fairly quick and stable Internet connection?
Thanks,
Brendan

Paul WirthParticipantYes, the initial sync fully completed, and the internet connection is reliable and fast. The second device—iPhone—shows the forms the database contains, but zero items in each form. I’m using Advanced Data Protection in iCloud if that has any bearing.

BrendanKeymasterHi Paul,
Hmm… I haven’t enabled that at all, so I don’t know if that would be the issue or not.
Do you have a sync password set on your Sync Settings screen? If so, then when you download from Cloud+ Sync, it should prompt you to enter the same password. You have to get it exactly right or else it won’t be able to decrypt the data downloaded.
Thanks,
Brendan

Paul WirthParticipantI had ADP enabled in TF 5 with iCloud sync and it wasn’t an issue. Not sure if it’s causing an issue with the iCloud+ sync.
I do have a sync password set, and I’ve made sure it’s entered correctly.
As TF Pro on my iPhone attempts to download from iCloud, the file size in the Documents list doesn’t change. It’s only when TF Pro crashes (which it did several times as I navigated, attempting to find out what was happening, or opening the document) or when I force-close and re-open it, that I see that the file size has increased.
There is no sync progress indicator that I can see anywhere, including after initiating sync by dragging down, or by tapping “Sync Now”. I do have “Detailed Sync Progress Sytle” enabled.
Currently, it’s been stuck at just over 21MB for over an hour. This is what happens every time. It just stops without fully downloading the entire document.
Also, if I ignore the prompt for entering the encryption password, switch to a different app, and then switch back, I get two prompts, one after the next, for the encryption password.

BrendanKeymasterI am preparing another update (1.2.1), which fixes a sync issue with the initial sync sometimes failing due to sending iCloud too many records at once. It only showed up in some databases.
So let’s wait for the 1.2.1 update to be approved once I send it to Apple for review and see how that goes. You may need to re-upload it from the Mac (after deleting from iCloud / Cloud+ and see if that solves the issue for you.
I’m just doing some testing uploading from iOS right now to see how that goes. Then I’ll send it to Apple for review.

Paul WirthParticipantI tried again after updating to v1.2.1 on both Mac and iPhone, removing the document from iPhone, removing the Cloud+ document, and re-uploading from Mac. Unfortunately, the problem persists.

BrendanKeymasterDid the sync complete fully? That is, did you see the progress bar appear and tell you how long it was going to take to upload? And did it finish that?
April 6, 2026 at 6:42 PM #53922
BrendanKeymasterSo is it still getting stuck downloading the document?
I did notice that depending on the document, Tap Forms may use more memory than is available on the device and that can crash it on iOS. I’ve actually just fixed that issue yesterday so it won’t use as much memory on iOS. It was not an issue for macOS.

Paul WirthParticipantDid the sync complete fully? That is, did you see the progress bar appear and tell you how long it was going to take to upload? And did it finish that?
I did see the progress bar appear, but I didn’t stay to watch it complete. I took the Tap Forms interface showing a “last synced” date and time to be an indication that sync was successful.
So is it still getting stuck downloading the document?

Yes, it’s still stuck downloading. It does occasionally crash the iOS app, so that may be the issue that you fixed recently. It’s only after a crash or after force-quitting the app that I can see any indication that the download is progressing (i.e., that the total byte count increases). But eventually, it just stops increasing altogether.

Yutaka KitamuraParticipantI also had trouble syncing one of my databases, but once I disabled encryption on my iPhone, it started syncing again.
It’s still syncing even after I re-enabled encryption.
Hope this helps.April 7, 2026 at 1:36 AM #53927
Henry CassidyParticipantGood morning Brendan,
I’m having identical problems as Paul is! The Mac has uploaded to Cloud+ and seems to sync satisfactorily but when I trie to transfer the data to my iPhone or iPad, it fails to do so on both.
I have other versions of a similar databases installed already about six months ago and they are all syncing fine. I’ve tried complete fresh installs of this new database as recommended, deleting all traces of the database each time but still get corruption on the 2nd. device. I am not using any encryption key or password.
April 7, 2026 at 1:39 AM #53928
Henry CassidyParticipantI’m using Version 1.2.1 (Build 519) of TFPro.
April 7, 2026 at 6:07 AM #53933
Henry CassidyParticipantHi Brendan,
The problem appears to be that the upload does not complete from a Mac. I cleaned all uploads off Mac and iPhone and from cloud+ and loaded the iPhone with the database. It uploaded with no issues and afterwards, I was able to download to the other devices, including the Mac, with zero problems so all running as it should.
April 7, 2026 at 11:05 PM #53939
BrendanKeymasterThanks for the update Henry. I know right now there’s a memory issue when downloading a large document from the iCloud Documents screen when using Cloud+ Sync. It only affects iOS at the moment. I have already optimized the memory usage during syncing on iOS. That optimization will be in the next update. But it could cause the iOS version to crash if it encounters too much data to sync.
I tested repeatedly uploading from the Mac to iCloud using Cloud+ Sync and although there were issues with version 1.2 where not all the data would upload, version 1.2.1 had solved those issues. It was due to an issue with sending too many records to iCloud in one batch in some cases.
April 8, 2026 at 5:24 AM #53942
Yutaka KitamuraParticipantCould it be related to the following?
April 8, 2026 at 5:50 PM #53948
Paul WirthParticipantThe issue is still present after updating to iOS 26.4.1 which was purported to fix the iCloud sync bug
