I have a bento document that I’m continuing off of and have added a few additional fields, and now I would like to order them to be able to use the “Tab” keyboard key command to go to the next field to the right in the visual layout display (the view with the background). Is this possible? Currently the Tab key does jump to another field, but I cannot figure out how to control which one it goes to next.

p.s. Thank you so much for developing this software! I spent a lot of time building my Bento database so to be able to not loose this data and continue to develop the document is AWESOME!! Thank you so much!!!

    Hi Jeff,

You can control the tab order by first displaying the layout inspector panel on the right. Then click the Tab Order button which looks like -|. It’s at the top of the layout canvas area. When you click on it, numbers will be displayed next to your layout items. Click the number and type in a new number. Press Return to accept the new number.

There’s instructions in the online user manual for this:

Look for the section titled To adjust the tab order of your fields

I can’t find the answer to a specific question, bu this post seems related – so I will try here:
I have figured out how to set the Tab Order, and that’s great. But checkboxes don’t seem to “qualify” for being included in the Tab Ordering. Is it possible to include a checkbox in the tab order?

You can set the tab order also on the Layers tab. That should let you include the Checkmark fields in the tab ordering. Also you may need to enable the Keyboard Navigation setting on the Keyboard settings in the System Settings app.
