I have not been able to get my iCloud to sync once. I have tried on an off for months. Tried everything in the forums multiple time. Deleted accounts, turned things on and off. Deleted the app etc. Now when I try to turn on iCloud sync on my iPad it says enabling iCloud Sync… and just sits there and spins. For hours with no change.

I guess this will never “just work”

Anyone know who decided to cancel Bento so I can punch them in the mouth?

    Hi Michael,

Do you have any other devices that you’ve managed to enable iCloud sync on? Is this limited to your iPad?

Have you tried the Reset Network Settings option in the Settings app under General > Reset?

    Thanks,

    Brendan

Nope this is the only device I have the app on. Just reset the Network Settings and deleted the app and reinstalled. I click iCloud Sync and its just siting there spinning.

My Mac sees itself and has “synced”.

Before I tried all the troubleshooting the iPad would at least see my Mac.

Welp.. I turned airplane mode on and off and reconnected to my Wifi.

Now I’m back to the point of seeing both devices. The Mac has a sync time and the iPad has a sync time but the times aren’t showing up on the other device. I can only the MAC’s sync time on the Mac. Same with the iPad.

Does any of this tell you anything?

Well there are a few “assertion failure” messages in there. That generally means something failed, but I also see some uploads and downloads, so I think that there should be some action going on on your devices.

If your Mac has a sync time and your iPad has a sync time that I think tells me that you pressed the upload to iCloud button on each device. You should do just one device at a time. That is, wait for the other device to finish downloading and processing data before you upload to iCloud on it.

Try this. Press Reset iCloud sync on ONE device. Does the list of Registered Devices clear from both devices? You may have to wait a while for that to happen. In general it should happen within a minute, but sometimes it can take longer. Just wait for it.

If it doesn’t happen then reboot. I know you’ve done that already. It really should just clear. There’s not much going on when you Reset iCloud Sync other than Tap Forms is deleting a folder in your Mobile Documents directory on your iPad and Mac.

That’s at least one first step in the process. After, re-enable iCloud sync and wait for each device to show up again. Press the upload button on ONE device only. Wait for the other device to auto-sync.
