Is there a way to drag photos in, instead of searching and placing them? If not, is that a feature that can be added? I have clients email me photos I need to put in the database, but they’re practically impossible to find in the mail downloads folder. If I could drag them directly from the email, that would make my life so much easier.

Yay! Nevermind! I figured it out! (For those of you looking how, click camera icon, go to recents, drag!)
You can also drag photos from the Finder into a custom layout.
