Is there a detailed instruction manual that shows how this program works, with detailed examples?

    Hi Al,

I didn’t see your message until today because you posted it in the Template Exchange forum and not in the regular Using Tap Forms Forum. I’ve moved it over for you.

There’s an online user manual here:

    https://www.tapforms.com/help-mac/5/en/topic/introduction

    Plus videos:

    https://vimeo.com/channels/tapformsios

    And other support information here:

    Thanks!

Is there a user manual (on-line or downloadable) for the iOS version? I know you have a manual for the Mac version, but I don’t find one for version 5.x of the iPhone/iPad TapForms. I suspect the ‘iPhone version manual (old)’ on the Support page is pretty outdated. Thanks.

Ya, I don’t have one specifically for the iOS version, but there are the screencasts.

Was there something specific you were having troubles with that I can help with?

My advise is to just tap on every button you see, even if you think you know what it should do, there may be more options in there than you think :) For example, all the action menus. It has been confused with the sharing menu before and doesn’t only contain functions for sharing. It contains a bulk of the features of Tap Forms under those menus.

Thanks for the reply. I think the best approach for us iOS users is to use the Mac manual and figure out how you implemented each function within the limitations of the iOS operating system. For instance, to initialize Nearby Sync the Mac manual says:
To configure synchronization with nearby devices via Wi-Fi:
    1. Open the same database document on each device you want to sync with.
    2. Under the Tap Forms menu, select Preferences.
    3. Click Sync.
    4. Click Nearby.
    5. If the device isn’t listed, click the plus button.
    6. Select the device.
    7. Click Done

In iOS you use this process:
    1. (same)
    2. Tap ‘Tools’
    3. Select ‘Sync Settings’
    4. Tap the center (waveform) icon at the top (this chooses ‘Nearby Sync’).
    5. (same)
    6. (same)
    7. [not needed, just tap ‘Forms’]

The rest of the ‘Nearby Sync’ explanation in the Mac manual (on page 37 of the PDF, or here: https://www.tapforms.com/help-mac/5/en/topic/nearby-sync) applies equally to the iOS version of TapForms.

Everything I come across related to this starts with, open the same document on both…what about when your device has not documents, a new install of TF onto a device?

    Hi Mark,

If you’ve got a fresh install of Tap Forms, then you might not have any documents yet. Tap the + button on the Documents view to create one, then create your forms.

Or if you want to install the Sample Forms, tap the action menu button and then tap on Install Samples.
