I have a field on my TapForms 5 form set to text. I use the form for storing a unique number, that includes a leading zero for a total of 6 digits. I want the zero preserved as the number corresponds to a laser engraved inventory label, and the numbers are preassigned. When I export the data to a spreadsheet, Excel doesn’t recognize the column as text and strips the zero. I’ve had to then set the column to custom with 6 characters so Excel will put the zero back in.
Is there something I’m doing wrong, or is there a way to enforce the field type so Excel will leave the zero alone?
Thanks,
Erik
Are you using a Calculation field to get the 0 prefixed numbers?
I think you can tell Excel that a column is Text and not a Number. That should preserve the leading 0’s.
