I am a little confused, tapforms always secured the data in the database an encrypted form, but not the attachments and now it has even got better with the adding of your own password to add to the automatically generated one. My question is, are my attachments now being encrypted and being held on iCloud in and secure form?

    Hello Malloch,

No, your attachments are not being encrypted. It’s only the main database content which is being encrypted. Any files external to the data, such as photos, audio recordings, and other files are not encrypted before being uploaded to iCloud.

However, Apple encrypts the data already as it’s being uploaded and also when it’s stored on their iCloud servers.

Please see Apple’s security document here to know what is being encrypted:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4865?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

Tap Forms uses what’s called Documents in the Cloud.

The additional encryption key that Tap Forms is using now is used to encrypt the sync files it generates which contains any data that you’ve typed or imported into Tap Forms.

    Thanks!

    Brendan
