Jim WarthmanParticipantStill getting the hang of this… I created two forms, and populated them with a couple records. Records in the “Images” form include a copy of the image in the “Image Preview” field.
The multi-column list view shows both records at the top, and record details below. Good so far.
But in the top part, the image “thumbnails” have a problem. Specifically, both records show the same thumbnail for the “Image Preview” field, even though the records contain different images.
In the top part of the window, I tried de-selecting the “Image Preview” field then re-selecting it, but the problem persists.
Any thoughts as to what I’m doing wrong?
Regards,
Jim

BrendanKeymasterHi Jim,
That’s odd. Must be a caching issue.
Try the “Compact Database” function on the Maintenance tab of the Preferences window. That’ll clear the image cache and cause new thumbnails to be created.
Thanks,
Brendan

BrendanKeymasterIs it also possible that these images have the same filename but with different content? That could cause this issue. I’m working on the next update which should solve this problem with the cache.

Jim WarthmanParticipantHi Brendan,
I tried “Compact Database”, with no change. I tried quitting/re-launching Tap Forms, no change.Regards,

Jim WarthmanParticipantHi Brendan,
When I created these records, the photo container had text “drop photos here”. So that’s what I did, I used drag and drop from a different app, to place the photos into Tap Forms. As such, I have no idea what the file names would be.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim WarthmanParticipantAlso, if this helps, when I click the little “eye” icon to display the image, the window that opens contains the *correct* image.

Jim

BrendanKeymasterTurn on the “Show Filename” switch on the Photo field properties and check to see if the filenames are the same.

Jim WarthmanParticipantBrendan,
That was it. Both photos that I dragged in were called “untitled”. I deleted the photo that had the wrong thumbnail, and dragged a version with a “real” file name. Problem solved! That said, isn’t it reasonable for the application to generate unique thumbnails, since it *does* correctly keep track of the two full-sized images, even though the file names are the same?

Jim

BrendanKeymasterIt’s just a caching issue that I’ve corrected for the next update. I’m currently caching the thumbnails based upon the image filename. In the next update I’ll be caching the images based upon their unique hashed valued. Just a silly mistake of mine that only showed up in this situation. Sorry for the trouble. It worked fine for the database versions of the image because the database itself is generating a unique hashed value for the images before they get stored in the database.
