I am testing Tap Forms to use as a database for storing data regarding officers who served in the First World War, including their birth date, when they entered the military, etc. It appears, however, that I cannot enter any dates prior to 1900. Is this a known limitation of the program?

    Hi Bill,

Unfortunately this is a limitation with Apple’s NSDataDetector class which Tap Forms uses to determine what date value you’ve entered. The workaround is to click on the calendar button next to the field on the record detail view and enter the date value into the specific date field provided. If you just type in the dates directly into the field in the multi-column list view or the non-popover field in the record details view, then Tap Forms will pass that off to Apple’s Data Detectors and it will not understand dates prior to 1900.

Sorry for this trouble. Unfortunately I haven’t yet found a solution to this problem. But you can store dates before 1900, just using the field I mentioned above.

    Thanks,

    Brendan
