tonytParticipantHi
I deleted a form by mistake. When I uncompress my backup and open it, the deleted form shows for a few seconds and then vanishes. It has also gone from my iPad. How should I go about restoring back to where the old form sticks. I am using Cloudant sync and latest OS and IOS versions.
Many thanks, I use this form every day for business!

BrendanKeymasterThe problem is the deletion command has been sent up to Cloudant. And so when you restore, Cloudant will send the command again to delete the form.
What you will have to do is sign-out of Cloudant on all your devices. Then delete the database in Cloudant. Then delete the database on your iPad (or don’t sign-in to Cloudant on it). Then restore your database from your backup on your Mac. Then sign-in to Cloudant again. That’ll upload a new copy of the database to Cloudant. Then you can send that database document over to your iPad and you should be good to go.
Basically you need to revert back to before the deletion command got synced on all copies of the database.

tonytParticipantHI brendan
MANY THANKS! Sorted! However, just noticed with backup on quit set to on and having added a test new form, the backup to an external disc does not seem to take place, even though changes have been made? Any ideas?
Many thanks again you are a lifesaver!

tonytParticipantFYI I tried using show files in preferences and hit backup, TF reported an error and said quit TF. When I did quit, it backed up on quit as set with the right time stamp! I am paranoid about backing up so more help much appreciated!

BrendanKeymasterThe backup on quit will only work when the document is currently opened and you quit. If you had closed the document then quit there would be no backup. Is that what happened maybe?
I’m glad you’re back in business though.

LeoParticipantBrendan,
in the above case: maybe it is useful to a a delete database from Cloudant to the database tools section? In that case you don’t have to go to cloudant itself and take as guess which database to delete (cloudant seems to store the database in a large random number.)

BrendanKeymasterHi Leo,
The large random number is the name Tap Forms assigns to the database. It always will match the database name on the Cloud sync settings screen in Tap Forms. So you can use that to know which database to delete. I suppose it could be useful to have a Delete Database function in Tap Forms that deletes the database in Cloudant.
