Martin SParticipantI have a large Form (Form A) which I want to update by adding a new field with data from an external source (Excel B). Form A and Excel B have a common “key” field. Note that one of the fields in Form A is an Image field. Although I can import Excel B as a new form and Join it with Form A, I have not found a way of then referencing the data in the Joined field elsewhere in Form A (e.g. from a Calculation field). I am also unable to alter the appearance of the Joined field in my preferred layout for Form A, to match the other “native” fields. Is there another way to update a field in Form A? I have tried exporting Form A as a .csv file and as an excel file, in order to perform the field update externally before re-importing, but I lose the contents of the Image field.

BrendanKeymasterHi Martin,
When you exported your CSV file, did you choose to export the media? Then, on the Import Records screen, make sure you choose the folder of photos option to locate the folder where the photos are. Tap Forms should import the photos also.
Also, if you switch to the Multi-Column List view, then click inside the first cell of your new field, you can paste an entire column of values that you copied from your external source. As long as the clipboard contains one value per line and the records are sorted in the same order as they would be on the external source. Make a backup file first in case it doesn’t work the way you expected it to.
Thanks,
Brendan

Martin SParticipantThank you Brendan.
Still getting acquainted with Tap Forms, so I hadn’t realised that exporting to a .csv file also allows for images to be exported to a separate file. Importing, following the reverse process, resulted in a form with the complete data. Perfect result.
However, the best tip was knowing how to paste the update data into the new field within Multi-Column List view. I have now been able to remove the Join form and use the pasted field data instead.
Many thanks for the knowledge transfer.
Rgds
