I want to try out Tapforms but the demo seems not to work with OS 10.8.4
I do not want to upgrade just for a demo -is there a demo that works with 10.8 please?
Hi Chris,
Well, since the full version requires OS X 10.9 and newer, the demo also requires that so it would be strange to have a demo that worked with 10.8 but the full version not.
Thanks!
Brendan
I suspect that since Mavericks introduced compressed memory, programs need to be compiled especially for Mavericks and Yosemite. It’s kind of a pain really as I’d love to stay on Mountain Lion for speed reasons, but you can’t get any of the Garageband/iMovie updates nor get the latest software.
But from a developer’s perspective (and especially from a solo indie dev like me), I can’t really afford the time to keep the app compatible with really old versions of the operating systems. I’d have to have all kinds of virtual machines and/or real machines lying around and then do testing on every version just to make sure I’m still compatible, that I haven’t added something new that’s not compatible with the old OS versions. It’s a real problem.
So on iOS I will support only the latest OS version. Most people upgrade iOS to the latest shortly after it comes out, so that’s never been an issue.
For Mac, I will most likely support the previous and current version of the OS at any given time. So when Apple releases OS X 10.11, I’ll support that and OS X 10.10 and will drop support for 10.9.
