Larry WestParticipantThe custom tab order on my forms is no longer working since upgrading to 5.2.5 All the correct numbers are there but are being ignored. Tabbing between fields seems to be going in some random order. I tried re-doing the tab order, but that has done no good. Is this feature messed up or am I missing something obvious?

BrendanKeymasterHi Larry,
Sorry about this. It’s a bug that I inadvertently introduced.
I’ve got a fix for it coming in the next update.
Sorry about that.

Michael BreenParticipantHi Brendan and Larry,
Has this been fixed? I am running 5.2.8 and I have the same random tabbing as you described.
Thanks,
Mike

BrendanKeymasterHi Michael,
Have you set the tab orders on your custom layout yet? Make sure there are none with a 0 value.
Click the –>| button when in layout design mode to change them. Click on a tab order button, type in a value, then press the Return key to accept the value. Turn off layout design mode and then click inside a field and then press the tab key. It should move according to the tab orders you specified.
I just tested it and it is working as expected.
Thanks,
Brendan

Michael BreenParticipantHi Brendan,
Got totally sidetracked from this and just getting back to it now. Thanks for the response. Not sure where I am messing up, but I still have the tabbing issue. I have attached a couple screenshots. Any idea what I may be doing wrong?
I turn off layout design mode and then click inside the first field in the form. The first field is a dropdown listbox (tab position 1). I select a value and hit the <tab> key. Nothing appears to happen and I hit the <tab> key a second time and the field with tab position 2 gets focus. I enter a value and hit <tab>. I believe it then goes to the field with tab position 3 – dropdown listbox with only “Y” or “N” values, because at this point, when I type either a “Y” or “N”, instead of using the dropdown listbox to select either “Y” or “N”, the field is populated with the value I type. If I hit the <tab> key now, the field that is in tab position 14 gets focus, skipping fields with tab positions 4 through 13.
If I use a new layout and drag all the fields (database columns) to the form and set the tab order 1 – 28, tabbing works as it should, so there is something in my layout that is causing problems.
Any thoughts? Thanks again for your help.
Mike

BrendanKeymasterTry changing your Country field’s Pick List to a Combobox and see if that works better for you. The popup buttons aren’t displaying the focus ring when they have focus, so that might be some of the confusion.
You also don’t need to put a value in the non-field objects. Such as the labels or circles.
Could you please email me your form template and I’ll investigate further?
Thanks,
Brendan

Michael BreenParticipantHi Brendan,
I will email you the exported template. I changed the Pick List to a Combobox. Field gets focus now, but no change to the tabbing behavior. I appreciate all your help and how quickly you respond. Even if I don’t end up using Tap Forms as the replacement for my very old MS Access database/form, I just purchased a license anyway (been using the trial version to test) because of how responsive you have been. It really is a great product. Looking forward to making the switch.
Thanks,
Mike

BrendanKeymasterHi Mike,
Thanks for purchasing Tap Forms!
I am still looking into the tabbing issue from the file you sent me. I’ll let you know what I discover.
Thanks!

Michael BreenParticipantJust playing around and I find a basic layout works fine for all fields. Sending another template that works to you via email for comparison.
Thanks,
Mike

Michael BreenParticipantFurther messing around shows the problem only occurs for me when I use a non-field object in the layout. I have used rectangles as a way to visually group different fields on the form. For example, a single rectangle placed around all the fields in the form, or enclosing certain fields, causes the tabbing to go screwy.
I tested further and putting a non-field object – I tried both rectangles and circles – anywhere in the form causes the tab order problem. The object does not even need to enclose any fields to cause the issue.
I also found that contrary to what I stated in an earlier post, it does not take two tabs to move to the second field in the form. It just takes a few seconds for that first tab to kick in.
Thanks,
Mike

BrendanKeymasterHi Michael,
Thanks for the added details. That is a little odd. I do loop through all of the field type objects to determine the next field to get focus. So it’s odd that having the non-field objects are causing it to mess up.
I’ll step through the code again to see what might be causing the problem having these non-field objects.
