Just so you know, Brendan, I’ve been working on this, off and on, for maybe 14 hours today, and countless hours leading up to today. That’s a very long time to be working on a problem, so I really need you to give me exact instructions on what to do to solve my problem.

Here’s a little more info for you:
My Mac mini, running OS 10.10.5 Yosemite, is currently working fine.
My iPhone, running iOS 9.0.2, is currently working fine.
My MacBook Pro, running OS 10.11 El Capitan, is not syncing.

Something tells me it’s a conflict with El Capitan.

    Hi John,

I’ve split this thread into a new topic because it now has nothing to do with the speed of Tap Forms from the previous thread.

I don’t remember, but are you using iCloud or Dropbox for syncing?

One thing you can try is to first make a backup of your database on a device that has a known good state of your data. Then try the “Delete Documents & Data” function in the Manage Storage area of the iCloud preferences on your MacBook Pro for the Tap Forms entry there. Once you’ve done that, reboot your Mac and then restore the data from the backup you made. Then re-enable sync on each device. Wait for all devices to show up on each other. Press the upload to cloud button only on your Macbook Pro. Wait for all other devices to auto-sync. Then move on to the next device, pressing the upload to cloud button and then waiting for the other devices to auto-sync.

Let me know how that goes. It can take some patience, especially with the first sync since it not only has to upload and download the database files, but also photos, file attachments, etc. It can take a considerable amount of time depending on how much of that there is.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

Brendan, here’s my progress report. I went to my iCloud account, but was unable to find anything called “Delete Documents & Data,” nor “Manage Storage.” I did a search, yet those words were not recognized by Apple. So I just clicked on each Tap Forms folder I could find and deleted them (one at a time) with the backspace key.

The rest of your instructions, however, worked. Well, mostly. I could see that the Mac mini and MacBook Pro were in sync. But when I went to my iPhone to check, it was frozen. Rebooting the app didn’t work. Rebooting the iPhone didn’t work. So I deleted Tap Forms from my iPhone, and reinstalled it from my iTunes library. While it didn’t sync, at least it was no longer frozen. I was offered a Tap Forms update, which I did. (Odd that I hadn’t gotten an App Store notice of the update, unless that update just got released today.) So I updated, then re-entered the encryption key. After patiently watching the sync indicator spin round and round and round, I can now say that my syncing problems have been solved … at least for now.

    Thanks for your help.

    John

P.S. As others may find what transpired previous to this post valuable, I want to make it easier for them to find. Here’s a link to the earlier forum, titled Unbearably Slow: https://www.tapforms.com/forums/topic/unbearably-slow/

    Hi John,

See attached photo for where I was referring you to (the Manage Storage area in iCloud).

Is that from your phone or your computer? I didn’t see anything resembling that from my computer.
