I can see my data after following above directions but I have a new problem. When I search on my database and then try to export the results into an Excel file it seems to work properly but the files do not get saved. I name the files, direct them to an appropriate folder but when I “save” and go to that folder after saving, nothing is there. Oddly, the search results are still saved in TF. I tried to save the files to an iCloud folder but also tried saving to my desktop. Same results. Any help? Thanks.

    Hi Mike,

I’ve split this up to a different topic since it’s a new issue.

So what if you don’t change the name of the file that’s being exported and let Tap Forms name it for you? Does it export the files then? And do yo mean the CSV file didn’t get exported or attached photos or what?

    Thanks,

    Brendan

Tried exporting in both Excel and CSV format and letting TF name the file. Did not work. The data is company expense data (i.e., no media files) and nothing is exported, neither the file (with no data) nor a file with some data. No error message either, or anything that looks squirrelly. In fact, I would not have noticed anything wrong if I had not decided to do a little work on the exported files. When I went to the folders where I had save the files nothing was in them.

Hmm… Which specific version and build # of Tap Forms are you using? The most recent Mac App Store version? Or the version downloaded from my website via the Mac Trial?

If it’s the Mac App Store version, can you please try the Mac Trial version?

I just tested with the Mac App Store version saving to my desktop from a Saved search. It worked. That’s using version 3.5.4 (700)

Can you please launch the Console application (in your Utilities) folder? Then type “Tap Forms” in the search field. Then try your export. Then click on any of the log entries and press command-a to select all. Then command-c to copy. Then paste into an email and send it to me please.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

I am using the build version. I’ll try your other suggestions.

Very odd but good news. I rebooted before I went into the Console and tried saving the files again. This time it worked. No idea why but I am not questioning it. Thanks much for the near real time help. Much appreciated.

    Hi Mike,

    Oh that’s great news.

Many moons ago before I went to university I used to work in a data centre working with IBM mainframe computers. We used to say that was “IBM repair procedure #1. If it’s not working right, give it a whack and reboot.” :-)
