I am needing to share my database between multiple devices. Got that sorted. But how can I permit another user to sync with my database. I realize there is no real sharing yet. But if I download the app to my friends phone, she can’t sync with my database because Tap Forms doesn’t ask what iCloud user it should sync with, it assumes the current user logged into iCloud.

I tested on my husband’s phone. I have purchased both the computer version and the iPhone version of Tap Forms. In iCloud we have Family Sharing turned on. When I go to his phone, Tap Forms is not in the list of apps I purchased. I don’t mind buying a third copy, but would it not just assume his iCloud role, not mine, therefore never permitting me to see my databases?

I need a way to share this data. I’ve created a database for a cattle auction. The check in clerk for buyers/sellers needs to keep up with what the auctioneer is doing through the database. Besides handing the auctioneer my phone, how can we get a random iPad to sync to my database?

    Ideas?

My next update will include Dropbox sync support. So you would be able to sync to a common Dropbox account on all your devices. iCloud doesn’t offer the ability to select a different iCloud account than the system one for apps to sync against.

If you’re talking about a single record, then you can beam or use AirDrop to send a record from one device to the other.

    Thanks,

No, not just a record. We will, by the end of the day, have 132 records. I saw the beam, but I’m assuming that works for phones/iPads…not computers?

Right, beaming only works for iOS devices.

Is there a reason beaming can’t be added to the Mac version?

Well, you can actually share to the Mac version using AirDrop rather than beaming. I guess I should have mentioned that. But it doesn’t go directly into Tap Forms. Tap Forms on iOS will send a .tff file over to your Mac which you can then import into Tap Forms for Mac. Go to the Finder and click on the AirDrop button, then on the iOS side, view your record, then tap on the action menu, then tap on Share, then wait for your Mac to show up in the AirDrop area at the top. The file will land in your Downloads folder. Then just import it into the Mac version.
