John ScobleParticipantI have a problem with a particular database.
On my MacMini, I have tried creating a new record, but it does not appear to be saving.
I tried this 4 times, and in the list of forms, the number of records went up from 16 to 20, but the new record was never visible.
I also tried creating a new record on my iPhone (synced automatically via IBMCloudant, but the record keeps disappearing!
help!!!
Thanks, John

BrendanKeymasterHi John,
Can you please email me your .tapforms document so I can examine it? There may be a problem with it.

John ScobleParticipantThanks, Brendan
I hope this is the right document the path was: …./Users/johnscoble/Library/Containers/com.tapzapp.tapforms-mac/Data/Documents/TapForms1.tapforms
The database/form which is causing problems is “MBikeCosts – Fuel”. The others seem to be ok.
Many thanks
John

BrendanKeymasterHi John.
I downloaded the attachment. But then I deleted it from the forum since I’m sure you didn’t want everyone access to your data.

BrendanKeymasterSo is it when creating new records the data isn’t saving? Or editing existing records?
I just added a record, added some details and it did save the data when I clicked the Save button at the bottom-right.

BrendanKeymasterYour file seems fine by the way. Nothing wrong with it.

John ScobleParticipantBrendan
Thanks for your various replies and efforts.
I still cannot save a record.
Attached is a files showing screenshots of what I get when I try and create a new record.
Do yon think I need to re-install Tap Forms? If so, do I just delete it from the Application Folder, and then download it again from the App Store?
Hope you can help
With best wishes
John

W PParticipantMay I make a suggestion? This maybe wrong but, if the other databases are working. Check permissions at the directory level (not in TF) on the one rhat doesn’t work and compare with the ones that do. This assumes they are different files/directories and not combined into one.

John ScobleParticipantWP – thanks for your thoughts.
However:
1 – apart from synching, I do not know of any other permission requirements in Tap Forms – how are these set?
2 – All the databases/forms in this document were set up under a previous version, and imported into TF5. All were working under the previous version, and I have only found this database/form which does not save in TF5
With best wishes

BrendanKeymasterHi John,
This wouldn’t be a permissions issue since every form is stored in the same database file for your document. I’m not sure why your’s isn’t saving though. I added a new record, filled in some data, then quit and then re-launched and it was definitely till there. Maybe turn off the Show Edit/Save button setting on the General Preferences panel in Tap Forms. See if that makes a difference for you. I did notice that the records list isn’t updating as you enter in data though until you refresh the list. I’m investigating that. I think it has to do with the fact that your first few fields are calculation fields.

First, apologies for not responding earlier – I will confess that I had other priorities at the time your reply came in.
Since then, I have upgraded Tap Forms (several times, I think) and am now on v5.0.7 (under El Capitan). The problem seems to have disappeared! Olé! I don’t understand what happened – I was definitely getting the problem on several occasions with that particular database under the previous version of v5. It may be that something had happened underneath with one of the bug fixes you put in.
Anyway – problem solved. Many thanks for your suggestions and help and investigation on this.

BrendanKeymasterWell I’ve made various fixes to things over the past few updates so perhaps one of them fixed the problem you were having :)
I’m glad it’s working better for you now.
