I have an older PowerPC MacBook running 10.5.8 I’d like to use in the field to download Exported data from TapForms. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what program I can use on the MacBook to directly connect an iPad and/or iPods to download the eported files?
All works great on my newer Powerbook running Yosemite where I can use TapForms or even download the data using Cyberduck or iTunes but I’d prefer to take the older one in the field. I never noticed but there seems to be no iTunes file downloading in 10.5.8.
I don’t know of a way to do that with an older machine. I’m guessing it won’t have Internet access in the field? So emailing your records is out of the question?
When there’s WIFI and internet access I don’t have a problem because I can sync to the iPad then upload the exported file to Dropbox for the laptop to access and analyze the data.
My concern is when there is no WIFI and internet at all which means I need to directly access the files in the iPods.
Of course I can use my McBook Pro/Yosemite but like I said, I’d rather not take that unit into the field if I don’t have to.
How about using an USB memory to transfer files?
Leo, how would I accomplish that? I don’t know of any way to use a Memory Stick to access the files on an IOS device.
Ya, that wouldn’t work. The issue is not being able to hook up to your iOS device because older versions of iTunes wouldn’t provide the necessary code to support File Sharing, so no way to transfer files.
That’s right Brendon, exactly the problem. That’s why I’m asking if anyone knows a program that will be able to read the data from the IOS device if it’s plugged into the USB port. Or some way to get the Export files wirelessly.
