Hello! We recently switched from Bento to Tap Forms. After wrestling all the images from Bento into Tap Forms using instructions provided here (thank-you!), we were eager to get started on the Macbook. Weirdly, whenever we take a photo for a record using the built-in iSight camera, the image is saved upside down and generates an upside down thumbnail! It appears to be only doing this with Tap Forms. Any ideas? I couldn’t find anyone else on the forum who has had this problem.

I’m also struggling with syncing the Macbook with the iPad. We do have a lot of records (over 20,000!). I’ve been following instructions via the forum but I still haven’t been able to sync for the first time. I thought maybe I should create a back-up from the macbook and restore it to the iPad, so there would be less uploading/downloading involved? I can establish a connection and both devices appear but the macbook information doesn’t appear to automatically download from iCloud to the iPad. The information is going to the cloud because I can see the mb increasing within the icloud interface.

    Any help is appreciated! Thank-you.

    Hi Akron,

I have fixed the upside down photo issue for the next 3.0.3 update for Mac.

Even if you restore to your iPad from a backup made on your Mac, there won’t be any less uploading or downloading going on. Tap Forms will still take a snapshot of the database and upload that to iCloud.

I would recommend watching the output of the following Terminal application command:

    brctl log -w

With that command running, you can see when iCloud Drive has settled down and has finished uploading or downloading data. It can help you to understand the process.

With that much data, I suspect it would take a while for iCloud sync to finish uploading and then downloading your data.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

    Brendan,

Thank-you for the reply! The code helped. It was working, there just wasn’t any notification within tapforms to let me know. The sync has finished to the iPad. It looks great.

Unfortunately, I have a new issue. Now that the records are on the iPad, we tried to use the camera (since we can’t use the Macbook) and it allows you to take the photo, generates a thumbnail but for some reason it won’t load the image within the record if its taken on the iPad. It does load all the photos that were synced from Bento. Any ideas?

    Thanks again!

    Hello Akron,

Hmm… Is that with just using the camera from within Tap Forms on your iPad? Or does the same problem exist if you just select a photo from the Photo Library in your Photo field?

    Thanks,

    Brendan

    Brendan,

The camera problem on the iPad has somehow been resolved. It appears to be operating properly. Thank-you again for your help.

    Hello Akron,

Ah ok. That’s interesting. I didn’t change anything for that on the iPad. I did make a change on the Mac version which I haven’t released yet which fixes a problem with upside down images from the camera.

    Thanks,

    Brendan
