Entering a phone number into macOS Contacts allows you to append the main number with a comma and then an extension number. It is worked that way in OS X for as long as I can remember.
I’ve been unable to do this with TF5. After entering/committing a comma and extension, TF removes the comma and does not maintain the phone number field format.
This works:
+1 (206) 555-1212
Adding a comma and extension (e.g., ext 10) results in this:
+1 206555121210
Using a comma not only distinguishes the extension from the primary number but allows dialing systems to pause before entering the extension.
Are there any plans to support something like this?
I’m using an open-source phone number formatting routine to format the phone numbers. I’m guessing it doesn’t like the comma. I’ll have to do some research to see if it can be supported.
