Frank PenkertParticipantHi Brendan,
As a long-time user of “Tap Forms” and an early adopter of “Tap Forms Pro”, I have tolerated the initial teething problems of “Tap Forms Pro” for quite some time. Unfortunately, as of today, both the performance and the synchronization are still highly unsatisfactory.
With the “iCloud” sync option, I can’t work at all because the application blocks input while syncing. The “Nearby” sync option performs somewhat better, but even in both sync modes, synchronization of “Rich Text Note” fields only works sporadically. After each sync, I have to check whether it actually succeeded.
With several thousand records, it’s impossible to work professionally with the application in its current state.

BrendanKeymasterHi Frank,
Thanks for the feedback on sync. It’s something I’m looking into. I may rewrite the iCloud sync engine using a different sync framework than what I’m currently using. But it will be a time consuming process. I will do some testing to make sure that Note fields are syncing as expected.
Thanks,
Brendan

Emmett HoltParticipantHi Brendan,
I agree with the on-going Sync problem making the Pro version nearly unusable to the continuous synching. I have over 30K records in my database which appear to be correctly synching, but the application spends nearly all its time in sync mode with minimal time for me to work with it. Is there a possibility to delay synch until the program is closed or when the user activates a new “sync-now” command?
This has become a critical issue causing me to search for an alternative…
Thanks, Emmett

BrendanKeymasterYou can disable Auto-Sync and then manually engage sync when you’re ready.
Also, I am working on a new iCloud sync algorithm right now.
Thanks,
Brendan

GattopardiParticipantIn the meantime, until the new synchronization algorithm is available, it seems to me that the best way to avoid sync issues is to always do the following:
– turn off any VPN
– trigger a manual sync and wait for it to complete
– close the app before switching to another device
– wait for the sync to finish on that other deviceJanuary 13, 2026 at 10:26 PM #53435
BrendanKeymasterFYI, I just sent a new build to my beta testers with the new sync engine. So just getting feedback on that now. So it’s coming. It’ll be a new option on the Sync Services screen which for now I’m calling
Cloud+ Sync. But it’s basically just iCloud that uses Apple’s CKSyncEngine framework. Still quite a complex endeavour, but so far it’s working well and is faster than the current iCloud sync and uses way less extra storage space. -
