RaYo DokParticipantHi.
Just purchased Tap Forms so, I am newie !!!
I want to migrate the data I have in different excel sheets right now into Tap Forms.
Basically, there are 3 tables:
1: Conversions: kg to grams, pounds, etc.
2: list of ingredients with calories, proteins, etc. per 100 gr
3: recipes, that contain ingredients with the quantity required. The part I am not able to do is the following one:
For example, if I have one ingredient call “beef” with 300kcal per 100 gr, and in my recipe i am using 2 pounds of it, I would like to recalculate its calories, proteins, etc. by multiplying 2*300*the conversion factor (translate pounds to grams, and then divide by 100, because 300 is per 100 gram).
I would also like to have the sum of the calories, proteins, etc of all ingredients in the recipe table.
Any idea how to deal with it? I am just starting, so i don’t mind to erase everything and start from scrach.
I want to do it right before i start putting all data on it.
thanks for your help.

BrendanKeymasterHi Rayo,
What you might want to do is add a Table field that’s hooked up to your Ingredients form that manages the ingredients just for that individual recipe. Your master Ingredients form would contain the Ingredient Name, Calories, Graham units, etc. Your Table field should include identical field names, plus a field for Quantity and a Calculation field to do your calculation.
The reason this is good is because it allows you to copy into the Ingredients Table field the basic information for the ingredient, but then to also be able to add a custom Quantity value for each ingredient.
You can have Tap Forms display a total of the calories, proteins, etc. at the bottom of the Ingredients Table field by clicking on the Sigma (∑) button, then choosing the Total function for each of the fields.
So now you’ll get your totals and you can have different quantities for the same ingredients used in different recipes. If you used just a Link to Form field to reference the Ingredients form, you wouldn’t be able to have different quantities for the same ingredients.
When you edit a Table field, you can choose another Form to copy the record values from. Tap Forms uses the field names in the Table field to match with the field names in the form you connected the Table field to in order to copy the values.
I hope that’s not all too confusing.
Let me know if you have further questions.
Thanks,
Brendan
