davidcsieParticipantHi Brendan – have/tried a lot of databases but your’s has really impressed. Major selling point is it’s cooperation with textexpander. Are you planning to enable their fill-in snippets?
And the other thing – As a surgeon I need to gather data and fill in paper forms (consent op sheets etc) Tipirneni have a product called filing cabinet which allows pdf forms to be filled in and the data stored. They have simplified form design brilliantly to the point that I would like to use tap forms for data collection and their filing cabinet for printing out the collected data. Is there some way to create a script to export a file as csv and be opened in their app.
Thanks for your help. I did go through the forum but saw a similar issue about using pdf as form background came up a long time ago and assume you’re not planning implementing it anytime soon.

BrendanKeymasterHi David,
Ya, I’m not planning on providing PDF form filling out options. There’s an app called PDFPen which I believe can do that. It’s a different kind of app really.
I think you might be able to make an AppleScript to take the CSV file exported from Tap Forms and open it in another app, but I’m not an AppleScript expert, so I don’t really know.
Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.
Thanks,
Brendan

davidcsieParticipantThanks for the reply. Was also wondering about the text expander fill-in snippets. Plain snippets work fine but the fill-in snippets don’t. Obviously for note field input the ability to use fill-in snippets would be a game changer.
Thanks

BrendanKeymasterHi David,
I’m not familiar with that aspect of TextExpander touch, but I’ll look into it.
Thanks,
Brendan

RooParticipantIf you open any PDF form stored in a Tap Forms file field, you can then use Open In to open them in other apps that support PDFs. You can fill them in there and then either export them back into Tap Forms or email them elsewhere. I use Note Taker HD because I like filling in such forms by handwriting but I’m sure you could use others like Goodreader. If you choose to export them back to Tap Forms they will appear in the Files Import folder and so can be uploaded back into any database (eg a separate one for completed forms) or just left in the folder. Alternatively you could file the completed forms in the PDF app which is what I do.

Thanks for your input – I was hoping to export the data entered using into tapform into tipirneni’s filing cabinet which is another database but it allows you to use pdf files to create forms which can then be printed out. One of Tapforms biggest pluses is being able to use Textexpanders snippets especially with the fill-in snipet. -
