Tapforms works great so far. My situation is I have many places (theaters) to which I send things (plays). I have two forms, many to many, and thus can list the plays I send to each theater, etc.

But I would like to be able to annotate each of those sends as to whether the theater accepts the play or not. I can call up a play and see where I have sent it, but I would like to see if that play at that theater has been accepted.

It seems to me that I need to build in a third form (accept; reject) that can annotate that particular instance. Is that possible?

    Hi Ron,

Unfortunately, and I’m first to admit it, that’s where the relationships in Tap Forms falls apart. There’s no function (right now) to be able to add any additional data to the link itself. I do have dreams of being able to let you define a set of fields on the relationship itself that Tap Forms can use to capture additional data that’s associated only with the link itself and not what you’ve linked to. A good example of this would be able to have a Product database you link to but be able to specify a different quantity for each selected product. Right now the Quantity field would have to be stored on the Product form itself and it doesn’t even make sense when you’re linking to the products. It would be the same in your situation where you want to add additional notes just to the actual link and not to the Theatre record itself.

The problem with having an intermediate form handling this for you is the way Tap Forms displays the relationships. It only goes one level deep, so you would have to navigate through your “Theatre Notes” form to get to your Theatre record.

Much thanks. I know what I am asking goes a bit deeper. I like what I see, and I have created, and half of the charm is its simplicity and ease of use.

But it is something I would recommend for, say, Tapforms 10.

The “Notes” is a good stop gap. In this case, say, just “performances” (far fewer than rejections) might be enough.

Also, thanks for responding. I know there are people out there looking for a submission database, and I will probably recommend this and send in a template. A little more testing.
