    Hi all.

I’m looking for a replacement for ListOmni (on iPhone), but would likely want to use the Mac version (of TapForms) to develop the thing.

Here are the main functions that would be needed:
1- From a “Master” list of 400-500 items, select the ones (say, 20 items) that need to be purchased on this shopping trip (typically by clicking on a checkbox).
2- Extract (make a list of) the selected items and display them in “store section” sequence.
3- In the store, allow the items on the “short list” to be checked off, as they’re being purchased. Hide the checked off items, leaving visible only the rest of the items not yet purchased.

Can this be done with TapForms?

    Thanks.

P.S. I’d also use the same approach to prepare a packing list for trips.

    Hi M_ichel,

You can do this by setting up 2 forms. One parent and one child. The parent form would keep track of the shopping trips. The child form would keep track of your items.

So for a specific shopping trip, you can then select the items you want to purchase. Tap Forms can even display the total value of all the items you’ve purchased.

I might actually recommend a Table field instead of a Link to Form field. You would still have a second form that has all of your master list of items, but the Table field could be linked to that so you can select records from the master list of items and Tap Forms would copy the values from the selected record into the Table field records. The advantage of this technique over a regular Link to Form field is you can add an additional field to your Table field to store the quantity purchased. So you select an item from your master list, then type in a quantity. Tap Forms can then compute a total (qty x price).

The only issue is that if you add a Checkmark field to your form, checking the items in a Table or Link to Form field’s records won’t make them go away.

    Thanks!

    Brendan
