Andreas KornfeldParticipantOK, I’ve been looking for several hours now, but have not found the answer.
I have the form on the phone, i know how to add photos one by one, but I want to import a whole folder with images and link them to the items, i.e item number one in csv, image name is 1.jpg.
How can I get this accomplished. I do not have a (current) mac, only the iphone (work requires me to work on pc) could this be done through iCloud Drive, if so how. Can I use Google drive and what do I name the folder with the images and how do I get it into TF. Appreciate any feedback. Getting a bit frustrated at this late hour.November 2, 2015 at 1:27 AM #15122
BrendanKeymasterHi Andreas,
There is a way to do this, but you have to use the built-in FTP server in Tap Forms to accomplish this.
So you have your CSV file with the image names in it. That’s good.
Now, go to the Tools screen, tap on the Web/FTP Settings button and then tap on the FTP button. Then tap Save. That’ll switch to the FTP server.
On the Files tab, tap on the power button to turn on the FTP server. You’ll see an IP address and a port number.
Go get yourself Cyberduck from http://cyberduck.io as it’s a really good, free FTP client program. Plus I know it works with Tap Forms.
Launch Cyberduck and click the button to create a new connection. Use the IP address for the server field and enter 8080 for the port number. Click on the Anonymous radio button to connect anonymously.
You should get a directory listing of all the files in Tap Forms. Navigate into the Photos folder.
Upload your photos by dragging them into the Photos folder.
Now back in Tap Forms, import your CSV file with the image file names in the photos field.
After the import is done as you navigate the records, you should see the photos appear.
Let me know if that works for you.
Thanks!
Brendan

Terry WibbergParticipantI am having the same problem. I tried using cyberduck and it wont connect. I have a file pictures in one of the fields. When I import it sends it as a zip file. When I unzip I have a csv file and a pictures folder full of all the pictures. It looks like all those pictures have a file number. When I look at the records it shows the file number but no picture. How can I view these pictures? I like everything about this app except for this problem.

BrendanKeymasterHi Terry,
Did you turn on the FTP server or are you still using the web server? Did you make sure you used anonymous login and set the port to 8080?
Unzipping the file inside Tap Forms won’t work because that doesn’t put the photos into the right folder.
Another alternative is to use a program called iExplorer to copy the photos into the Photos folder. Then import the CSV file and Tap Forms should be able to find them.
Thanks,
Brendan

Terry WibbergParticipantThe FTP server is on. The zip file is there. When I try to open it, it won’t open. How do I get that file into the tap forms app?

BrendanKeymasterHi Terry,
You don’t want to put the zip file there.
What you need to do is take all the individual photos and copy them into the Photos folder that you’ll see when you connect to the FTP server. So once you connect with Cyberduck, double-click on the Photos folder, then drag all your photos into that folder. Don’t put the zip file up there.
Thanks,
Brendan

Terry WibbergParticipantBrendon, I love this app. It does everything I need and is very easy for me to use except for getting these photos to attach to the records. I am truly lost and have tried everything you have mentioned.
I have a pc and an Iphone and a minipad. I cant get the cyberduck to open either of the devices and don’t know why. The photos are in my records on my iphone. How do I get complete records on another iphone or minipad? Can you give me a step by step again? I appreciate your help.January 25, 2016 at 2:35 PM #15757
BrendanKeymasterHi Terry,
Well one way of doing it is to make a backup file to backup the entire database from one device and restore that to the other device. Are you wanting only one form copied over or is ok to make a mirror copy?
Or have you tried enabling sync?
You could also try the iExplorer application from http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer if Cyberduck isn’t working for you.
See the attached images for the Cyberduck settings I’m using and a screenshot of what it looks like once you’ve connected.

Terry WibbergParticipantThe backup and restore did the trick. Thanks

Terry WibbergParticipantWell it did the trick until tonight. I added more records and fields. The size of the file now is 328 MB. It was 263MB and it worked. I get an error message about 20% of the way thru the upload saying that I either don’t have an internet connection or my device cant contact Dropbox servers. When I tried to upload the old backup from yesterday it was working. I am really frustrated now. I just invested $500 in a new Ipad, bought one more app from the app store. Invested about 4 more hours inputing field info and now it doesn’t work. Please help quick so if I need to ditch this thing I can do it before my 14 day return policy runs out. I am starting to think this app isn’t as user friendly as I had hoped.

Terry WibbergParticipantI tried the backup and restore using ICloud and it worked. It actually it seems to wok faster than the Dropbox backup worked before. I would prefer to backup to Dropbox.

BrendanKeymasterHi Terry,
I don’t have control over that aspect of the file transfer process. I basically hand it off to the operating system and it handles the upload and download from whichever service you had chosen.
I’m glad that you got the upload working with iCloud.
Thanks,
Brendan
