I would like to use Tap Forms to replace an existing FileMaker file which consists of 2 parent dbs and 2 related child dbs.
Parent 1 has many records in child 1 & child 2
Parent 2 has many records in child 1
Is it possible to import records into TapForms and retain the relations? If so how is the relation preserved?
Ron
Hello Ron,
You can do this only with a specially formatted CSV file that has been generated by Tap Forms itself. There have been some discussions on this topic in the forum before, but there is no way to link the data between your forms using a non-Tap Forms generated unique identifier.
If you want to see how Tap Forms generates a CSV file in this manner, I would recommend setting up a couple of forms and adding a Link to Form field to the parent form which links to the child form. Then add some records to each. Then export the parent form and enable the “Export Linked Records” feature. Then take a look at the CSV files that are generated.
It’s technically possible to do, but may be more work than it’s worth depending on how much data you have.
Thanks,
Brendan
