JulieParticipantSo far I really like TapForms – for the last 5 or 6 years I’ve used Evernote, tried Notion, AirTable, Amplenote but they are either so complex it’s impossible to use or don’t have some of the features I really need.
I have about 1000 sewing patterns, everything from womens to home decor to quilts. I just want them to be in a convenient database where I can sort them by certain features when I want to find something. Same thing goes for embroidery designs, once you have over a few hundred, it’s almost impossible to find just the ones with say a dog or Christmas Tree.
I’m working my way through the layout on the form and figuring out the pick list structure, etc. Now that I have that fairly established I have a few questions –
If I export from Evernote, I can either get an .enex file, giant pdf, or .html page format. Is there one or the other that would be easier to try to import? And is it possible to import any of the info? I can get it into a spreadsheet but I would have to go back and add all the photos. Not the end of the world if everything else works okay.
With the photo field, if I want to add two photos, do I need to have additional photo fields? Or can I just add them all to the one photo field?
Brendan thank you for replying so quickly to my other question about pick lists – I would have responded but we’ve been hit by the two winter storms and between the power going on and off and the same for the internet, it’s been crazy!

Daniel LeuParticipantThat’s something I have been thinking about for a while. The issue is that Evernote contains unstructured data whereas with TFP, data is structured.
If you have just a description of your sewing patterns and a photo or two, then that would be much easier than my mix of tables, list, images, etc. A photo attachment field can contain more than one image. So one field is enough.
There are several online tools that convert enex files to CVS or Markdown. I haven’t looked at them so far.
For me, I’ll most likely use a Markdown format so I can continue the format I’m used to. The issue I have is the photo tag which doesn’t work directly inside TFP, but works using an external browser as a display. Maybe I’ll find a solution one day.
Good luck!
Cheers, Daniel

BrendanKeymasterYou could add a File Attachment or Photo field and attach your Evernote PDF export file to it. Tap Forms will index the words within a PDF file and make them available to search. However, it’s not a targeted search like being able to search a specific field for a specific value with a regular form. It would react to the general search field at the top-right of the window.
But you could add fields as you go and copy over some of the field values. Would be a bunch of work with 1000 notes.
It looks like the content of a
.enexfile is just an XML file with a series of HTML pages within eachnotetag. But maybe there are tools out there as Daniel suggested that would let you export the data to a CSV file.
