Wondering what the difference is beteen? Why use one over the other?

Nearby sync is a direct sync between your devices. Both devices must be on at the same time with the same database document opened during the entire sync process. So the data never goes over the Internet. But if one machine goes to sleep during the sync then it can give you a timeout error.
iCloud sync is more convenient because you don’t have to have all devices opened at the same time. But your data does go over the Internet. Personally I prefer iCloud over Nearby.
