I have TF running on both my iMac and my MBP. With Brendan’s help got the iCloud sync set up correctly and activated. Thank you Brendan.
I imported some 200,000 records from my Bento App into 30 Forms (some with only 200 records, others with 15,000) Have automated sync set up for hourly on both machines. After two days no forms have been synced.. If I go to my icloud.com page I can’t see a folder for tap forms or the expected files.
I really don’t want to use dropbox or other cloud storage since I’ve rationalized all my data files to iCloud over the past few months and with this slight exception all works extremely well.
Any suggestions?
Hi Martin,
How big is your database file with 200,000 records in it? That’s a heck of a lot of records. Tap Forms wasn’t optimized for storing that much data just yet. It’s something I’m working towards though.
You can find out the database file size on the Database Maintenance screen in Preferences.
Thanks,
Brendan
Hi Brendan,
Database size is 3.2Gb.
I’ve reset everything this morning and restarted. Now have everything synced and running correctly. Just a little slow on the iMac, but excellent performance with the SSD on my MBP
Hi Martin,
Wow, I’d say that’s the biggest database that I’ve heard of for Tap Forms so far.
My update that I’m working on to migrate over to Couchbase will use much less disk space for storing the same amount of information.
If you didn’t have any private information in your database and you’d be willing to send it to me, I would love to see how small the database file size will be when I run it through my new migration code.
Thanks,
Brendan
Willingly Brendan, and if you ever want a beta tester then feel free to let me know.
How do you want me to send it to you?
Hi Martin,
Excellent. With a file that big, zip it first, then upload it to Dropbox (or whatever cloud service you have) and email me the link. support@tapforms.com
Thanks!
Brendan
